hi everyone,,, especially the one who once been a k1 visa holder i need help here....

I will be going in california anytime soon, i will be holding a k1 visa.... I am a BSN graduate here in pinas but I didnt took the local boards here, because my boyfriend which happen to be a pinoy u.s. citizen and I decided to get married soon after i arrived there..so in short we wanna settle down there, have a family and be together asap. so i guess taking the boards here in PI could be a waste and would not be necessary since im gonna be leaving soon and will not pursue my nursing career in PI...so instead im planning to just take the nclex in the u.s. maybe few months after i get there,,,who knows ? maybe if i passed the test i might be able to land a nursing job there,,, well who wouldn't want that??? so my question is,,, can i take the nclex in the u.s. even if im not a license holder or (RN) here in PI? and I wanna know if being a k1 visa holder will be an issue for the BON (board of nursing) in cali? and 1 more thing if ever i wanna take the nclex after i get married i suppose my last name will be change to my hubby's last name but contrary to my documents such as diploma, TOR (transcript of record) etc. which happens to be indicated as my maiden name... will that be a problem??? im confuse and i need an answer im sure any infos will be very helpful.thanks in advance. hope to see your post coming!

hi. i passed my nclex exam and have a pending visa application (I-140) but cause of retrogression its been on hold for a long time. now my fiance and i filed for fiance visa.

you can apply for nclex rn exam in california even if ure not a board passer in i PI. you just need to write a letter of explanation saying you dont intend to practice nursing in the philippines. that always works as i hear from other nclex applicants.

and BON doesnt care if youre K1 visa holder. u just need to meet the requirements they need.

and if you get married and have ur husband's last name, u just need to present your marriage certificate or license. and you will be alright.

and check out a great nursing forum--allnurses.com lots of info there

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Additional duplicate threads moved from two other forums and merged with existing thread, plus another duplicate thread of the same topic in a third forum removed as it had no responses.

Please DO NOT start a thread in more than one forum - it is unnecessary and unhelpful. Post in one forum only and then follow up there with the responses. More is NOT better.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I believe most states that use CGFNS require that you take that exam first before you take the NCLEX

Might be worth going to a state like California and getting your license there and not even worry about the CGFNS.

Different states have different requirements. Just google the Board of Nursing for the state in question.
