Can I use the NOA1's to get SSN or driving learner's permit? Thanks for your answers....

NOA is NOT proof of work authorization and will not be an acceptable document for the SSA to get a SSN

Judging by your timeline, you are already in the US. So you can use your passport with the visa as ID and grounds for obtaining SS#.

Now, it won't be valid until EAD is approved, but still, you can get one.

I'm not sure what the state of Washington requires to obtain a learner's permit, but with SS# in hand I'm pretty sure you can get it. If they don't require a SS# then it's even easier to do.

My wife had an international driver's permit. It was issued in the Philippines.

She took the written and road test. The Department of Licensing did not ask for her SSN.

BTW, we're in Washington state, too.

Thanks Map. Yes, I am already in the US but my I-94 has already been expired. And we just started applying to change my status. Still waiting for Biometrics, or RFE's if there are any. But the only thing that I have now are the NOA1's. Only the notice of action for acceptance.

I only have the student driver's license from the Philippines. I assume this wont work. lol. where in wa are u guys?
