Well, I think after trying to get my IR-1 visa for 3 and a half years, having my interview on Feb 8th,only to be put into AP, Im feeling ready to give up. At this point I think theyre just trying to find reasons to not let me immigrate, and they can have it. I was pregnant when I left after we got married, thinking it would be 9 months tops, and our daughter is now 3. :( This just sucks nuts so bad.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Its taken this long because of the immigration attorneys we had in the beginning. They spelt canada wrong on the first I-130, then put my husband down as my son on the second. Told me I wouldnt need a police clearance from South africa (even though I only moved to canada when I was 19). After a few months of stupidity, they packed up shop and left town without a forewarding address and took our money and paperwork with it. So we pretty much had to start from scratch. It took forever to get my police clearance from SA after we were hit with that bad news. Its been one screw up after the next.

Rod cant come to Canada because of prison time for 3 DUI's (even though it was 8 years ago) , I cant go there because Im a south african citizen living in canada and need a visitors visa to go visit, they cancelled the one I had when they found out I was busy immigrating, stating that they suspected I would abandon my immigration. I havent seen my husband physically for 2 years weve been married for 4. Im just so tired of this. He is too, but he is stronger than I am and refuses to give up.

Im sorry for venting, but Ive really just reached my limit. We thought this would all be over when I finally got my interview, only to be stuck in AP and we dont know when we will get my visa now.

"Invictus" is a rather apt poem to have in your subject line. Read it again and stick it out.

This whole thing sucks...but if your love for your husband is true, it's worth more than the time you are being kept apart.

Hope it all works out for you soon.

Wow. Some people here complain about waiting a year, and you have been waiting this long? I really admire you for holding out for this amount of time, so like others have said, keep on it. I am sure something good will happen eventually, but feel free to vent away, I can only imagine how frustrating it is for you.

Coralie, were you the one who got A that day? Mine was letter D. I was asked to submit additional documents on that day. The Consulate received my additional docs on March 23rd and until now I am waiting for my visa.

I do understand how you are feeling because me and my husband have been separated for almost 2 years since we got married.

Don't give up! I do believe great things will happen to those who wait!

I know how hard it is to wait and wait.......but dont give up, the minute you give up they have won and all the waiting was for nothing.......you have came this far its not easy to do.....i know that it feels like it will never end but it will, they can not hold your application hostage for ever.

I have added you to my prayer but please dont give up

I agree with the others, Coralie,

Hang in there. As hopeless as things seem now, once you get the approval this will all become like a bad dream.

It's terrible about the lawyer who abused your trust - I hope you reported him to the Bar Association (if you didn't, you still can) so they can revoke any license that he has and not mis-use others in the same way. When I still worked in Canada for the MP we had similar situations with people who were trying to immigrate to Canada and had trusted a lawyer or immigration consultant who had absconded with their money - in some cases not even filing any paperwork. It always made me so angry that people like this prey on others and we worked hard to help right the wrongs their 'clients' had experienced. I agree that a call to your husband's Senator and asking for his help would not be amiss - he/she can send a politely worded request for a status update on your situation, and ask when you can expect to hear about your visa. The nudge might help. Hopefully the AP will be over quick and is just an update on the security checks since it was so long since your application was filed. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope that you and your family hear good news very soon.
