I was about to head to bed shortly, but when I read your message I did a quick search online and found this:

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/clearing/agri_prod_inus.xml

Not sure if it will be helpful in your situation, as I didn't have time to read it at length. Perhaps if you do a search for "importing plants to u.s." you will have some answers. Good luck! I hope you are able to take your favorite plants with you. :)

That link is more for folks traveling, rather then moving with house plants. I googled an didn't come up with anything other then some Moveers will NOT move houseplants and some states have strict guildlines because they are agricultural states where their crops are important. In my opinion, it would be more trouble then they're worth, I'd leave them behind with a nice family member :) That's what I did.

This may help - see Plants and Seeds

The plants have to go through quaranteen and there is a price associated with it. As stated it usually not worth the price and time... There is no guarantee that the plant will be alive when they call you to come get it... I have permission to import seeds from other countries and that is a smaller hurdle than live plants and I have to provide a great deal of documentation for everything coming into the country.

hi Marisp.

Since I was flying from BC to SC, I just gave my plants to my son, so I really don't have much advice to give you. I hope you find your answers, and it all works out for you. :)
