I know of three people that have ended up in AP with Govt Security clearances but they are all Govt contractor employees .. two were approved in AP and the 3rd is awaiting decision.

The flip side of that coin is that he's engaged to a girl from a communist country. Many government jobs don't require a security clearance, but presuming that his job does require it, this could potentially hang him up when they are doing his background checks. Depending on the level of the clearance, contact with foreign nationals that goes beyond "casual or incidental" may have to be disclosed and investigated.

Anyway, this is all conjecture. I don't think anyone doubts that there is a fraternal relationship among some employees of some government agencies, and that a particular employee might give preferential treatment to another employee because of this. Government employees are human beings, too (though this may be debatable with some government employees). However, I don't think you can conclude that any government employee is going to enjoy a streamlined journey, from petition to point of entry. For example, if he works for USCIS then his petition approval might sail through quickly. On the other hand, it might not work out so well for his fiancee if she finds herself standing in front of a CO on a day when he saw half a dozen reaffirmed petitions that he originally sent back to USCIS with recommendations that they be denied. He might decide this is a good opportunity to vent his frustrations on the fiancee of a USCIS employee.

Start writing letters, letters with some real content of a page or more. She needs to write letters too. I'd go with one letter a week for each of you until your interview.

Hi everyone, after reading the suggestions from everyone, I decided to go back for one week to have our DAM HOI. My sons will be out of school a week in early April for Springbreak so I take the opportunity to do this. I already bought the ticket, an engagement diamond ring, a pair of diamond ear rings and everything else as small gifts from the US for her family. I will pretty much document everything I do this time to provide proofs. I hate this process because it seems that we have to prove to the world that we are in love. Wish me luck. I really appreciate everyone to continue proving inputs/suggestions. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks.

Focus on photos. In my case, the consulate seemed to care more about phone bills first, less interest in emails, and didn't care about the chats. But they looked through a lot of pictures at the interview. Not sure but might have to do with how slow government changes, since phone bills and photos have been presented as evidence for many more years.

My oldest sister is coming with me for a week, and hopefully, that will prove to the CO that we are for real. I am excited because I am leaving in one week to see my love. Again, thank you all!!

IMO wiring money is not a plus with the K-1... the photos of your relative with her family along with teh previous photos with your kids will be a huge plus.

I've heard mixed opinions on this, but I agree with Scott. At best, I don't think sending money is going to impress the CO's. At worst, they may suspect you're being played for money. Sending cash to your fiancee in Vietnam is not a huge red flag like it would be in a former Soviet Union country (it's a well known scam system there), but I've never heard of it helping anyone's K1 case in HCM.

BTW, most of us sent money to our fiancees in Vietnam. Most girls won't directly ask for it, but they're thrilled to get a "gift". It also lets them show off a little to their friends, now that they've got an American fiance.
