Hi, I have two questiosn about the I-864.

1. I am a full-time student in law school. Should I put the amount of money I can receive in loans as my "income" or should I put $0?

2. I don't really understand co-sponsorship. It seemed pretty easy on the I-34, but where do I include the co-sponsor on this form? My dad is co-sponsoring. I thought maybe I should indicate under #21, that I have a parent who is combining income with me and submitting the I-864, but it says they must be "with the same principal residence" -- I don't live with my dad...so how do I indicate on my I-864 form that I have a co-sponsor?

For the I-864 it's a joint-sponsor.

here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864.pdf page 3 at the bottom on the left discusses joint sponsor.

To answer your qns directly:

1. I wouldn't because it's not really "income" it's the amount of debt you can be in. Any time you apply for a loan etc and say you have a credit card with a $2000 limit but owe maybe $1, it still counts as a $2000 debt.

2. Basically, as your father does not live in the same residence (which isn't an issue at all) he submits an I-864 HIMSELF and you fill in one as well. If you lived in the same place he'd need an I-864A. You both have to provide income information, even if you don't make the requirements. This means tax returns, W2s, 1099's etc (or IRS transcripts in place of all that) for the most recent 3 tax years. if you didn't file tax you provide a letter explaining why. Re #21 DO NOT MENTION HIM HERE.

It is very clear you have neither read the guides nor the form instructions. You MUST read all this or end up getting yourself in trouble.

Good luck.
