I got a letter in the mail from the NVC yesterday and it states the following.

"February 20, 2010

The state department's national visa center has recently received an approval I-129f petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place."

What exactly is this saying? It's just going to sit there and week and then go? Or does the NVC still need to review it and the week they said it will take might take longer?

it depends, really, on whether or not there is any additional processing or namechecks still to do, at the nvc stage.

MOST do not need AP or namechecks, so get bundled up to go to the IV Unit at an Embassy.

here's a comprehensive thingie on AP and namechecks - have a read?

You can certainly call NVC, get a Human, and inquire about case status.

If you don't know yer NVC/Embassy Case Number, you can get it from NVC, as well.

Once you have that case number, and you know it's left NVC - you can start calling DOS for status on the casefile, DOS will know all status from the time it's left NVC to the time the visa has been issued, with all of the time-ticks in between (P3, P4, interview date set, interview date, interview results, day visa packet send to fiancee, etc etc)

Good Luck ! (or something )

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
