You have two choices

1. Get married in your home country and apply for a K-3 spousal visa

2. Apply for a K-1 Visa, get married in the US (civil ceremony) and later after you have adjusted status go back to your home country and have traditional wedding.

Under the fiancee visa you must be married in the US after the K-1 visa approval.

If your fiancee is not a US citizen you are ineligible for a K-1 visa.

My fiance and I are getting married at the court just to take care of the legal aspect, and then travel to our native country(once he has AP) and have the "real" wedding there. Many couples here are doing the same thing...hope that helps a little.

i think weddings are three parts in nigeria, the traditonal, church and the court wedding. why dont you try te traditional wedding with the court wedding and apply for a k1, that way when you come to the us you will have the church wedding, anyway you wont lose.

My fiance is in USA. We are both of Nigerian parentage and want to have our wedding in Nigeria. What processes would we have to go through? Any help please.

Once you are married in Nigeria, you can start the K3 (spousal visa)process.

Yup! :)

But uinfortunately that means the interview would be in Lagos... a very time consuming process that could jeopardize your chances of success of getting a visa in a reasonable time frame due to the high fraud aspects of dealing with this consulate. Dealing with Lagos should be avoided at all costs...
