I live in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. I am a K1 who got married this past Saturday. I thought the I-693 would be a easy part of the packet going to Chicago. I have called several MD's in this area and they all have been severely lacking in knowledge about the process. They all have said that I have to get another physical even though I just had one 3 months ago at SLEMC in Manila. I have even shown them the I-693 instructions that clearly show that all they need to do is sign off on the vaccine part of the 693 but they disagree and won't sign without complete physical.

Does anybody in this area know a civil surgeon that actually knows their role in this matter???

Salamat!

yes my husband did call this doctor but the woman who answered the phone said the we need another medical, becuase she said how they will know that we are really healthy if we will not repeat the medical again. im so frustrated about this already. i guess i will not be here in the united states if i am defective. all the telephone numbers that this doctors had my husband already called but they said the same thing, another medical exam. how would we convince them that i dont need medical again.

confuse, do you have all your vaccinations? (If so, then it should be cheaper)

Also, have you tried telling them that you need only the vaccination supplement filled?

Was the TB test done when doing the medical for K-1?

we printed the I-693 intructions and high lighted whats applicable to me and let the civil surgeon read it when we arrived to her clinic, but still she insist i need another medical again. Yes i do have mt TB test on my medical 3 months ago. I have even my x-ray cd with me that SLEC given me after my medical. SLEC give me three vaccine the Tdap, MMR and Varicella. It takes about an hour for my husband to convince her that i dont need another medical exam, but the surgeon said she is doing it for 9 years now, thus i need another medical examination. my husband is so pissed off, so we just go home after trying to convince her.

After Reading form after form, posting after posting about the lack of regulation on Civil Surgeons in the United States I asked myself, how is it the the civil surgeons in other countries are regulated, have to follow a price chart for vaccination and medicals and have to fill out vaccination supplement forms while all the postings I have read that the civil surgeons in the states make their own rules and force people who have paid quite enough to unite with our loved ones pay even more redicoulously inflated prices cause they know we need the services. I started doing research.

If you want to file a complaint, you need to contact the Office of the Inspector General at the Department of Justice. USCIS are not powerless to stop this sort of practice, they can withdraw authorization for any doctor who is a USCIS authorized Civil Surgeon. If enough people start doing this, these civil surgeons will start thinking twice before taking advantage of people who only want to be close to their families.

Ugh! I'm having the same problem right now. My now husband came in on a K-1 Fiance Visa. Part of the requirement is to have the medical exam before he came, and would not have been able to enter the U.S. if he hadn't done it prior. The meidcal offices I have spoken with are all quoting me about $350-$450!!!! Did you find one that worked for you?

The instructions for the I-485 does say very clearly that if you've already had the medical done as a k-1, you only need to attach the DS-3025 Vaccination records page. We're going to do that and hope it doesn't solicit and RFE.
