Discover card. 1% cash back on just about everything, 5% on promotional things (sign up with 2 clicks online every 3 months) including AIRLINE TICKETS and other travel (5% cash back on an international flight is niiiiiice), or groceries. Take it as cash at $50, or turn it into gift certificates at retailers for up to double the amount.

The other thing is that they've always been a nice company. No hidden fees, no random interest hikes (when they were allowed), and super nice customer service people. I have a Citi card, and I really hate the people at their customer service, they jacked my interest rates up for no reason, and their website constantly tries to trick me into signing up for stuff I don't want.

I rarely have a problem with a place taking Discover, either. I say go with them.

I used to recommend the Chase Freedom card. No annual fee. Interest rate is 13.24%. When I signed up with them 2 years ago, they had 3% cash back or points. I'd redeem the points for Continental Airlines miles and then take a free flight back home. The points to air miles conversion was about the same as getting 6-7% cash back. It was great!

But they ditched the 3% cash back feature about 4 months ago and now have the usual points or cash back for "some" categories. Might be restaurants, groceries and utilities for a few months. Then it changes to something else. So it's not as good of a card as it used to be. I would still say it's better than most cards though.

The Amex Blue Cash gives you 5% cash back. But you have to spend something like $6500/year before they start paying 5%. The Chase Freedom did 3% from the start. I'd suspect that Amex Blue Cash is harder to get than the Freedom.

I think CitiCard sucks.

They all suck. Best thing you can do is take advantage of their rewards programs and never pay them a dime in interest.

Do you know what the industry refers to those of us who pay all our bills in full on time? Deadbeats. Your goal should always be to have your credit card company hate you because they're not making any revenue off you. If you've done that, you've won.

Yeah, we're considered deadbeats too - they don't make any interest off of us either :) .

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
