You'all don't believe in science, what can I say?

I don't hold to the data of global warming. My first disagreements came about when I was working and studying in the dendro lab and had access to a couple of thousand of years of samples. Also, archaeologically/paleoanthropologically it can be explained simply in cycles. No biggie. There is conflicting data out there. It is just a theory afterall.

I am a crazy religious conservative. Very strict. Very. :)

I do not believe in wrecking things. I don't think people should live in a place without water (errrmmm the desert) to sustain them, or cut down all kinds of trees and such, slash and burn, polluting and dumping waste, etc. I think energy alternatives are great. I love recycling and biodegradable things and I buy with packaging in mind, compost, etc. I grow a lot of my own food for a variety of reasons (including I just like to do it)-- which is my part of reducing shipping footprint as well plantation hegemonies, etc.

Being conservative is not equal to not believing in science nor being anti-environment. Science is beautiful. It is a tool used for proving and disproving investigation.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

It's amazing how well the planet got along before there were liberals telling us how ###### up it was!

Where are the Conservative voices now on the environment?

"The great Error of our Nature is, not to know where to stop, not to be satisfied with any reasonable Acquirement; not to compound with our Condition; but to lose all we have gained by an insatiable Pursuit after more." ~ Edmund Burke

"Conservation is a great moral issue, for it involves the patriotic duty of insuring the safety and continuance of the nation." ~ Teddy Roosevelt

"The conservation of natural resources is the fundamental problem. Unless we solve that problem it will avail us little to solve all others." ~ Teddy Roosevelt

"I can at once refute the statement that the people of the West object to conservation of oil resources. They know that there is a limit to oil supplies and that the time will come when they and the Nation will need this oil much more than it is needed now. There are no half measures in conservation of oil." ~ Herbert Hoover

Statement on Oil Conservation Policies, March 15, 1929

"Nothing is more conservative than conservation" ~ Russel Kirk

Conservation Activism is a Healthy Sign, Baltimore Sun, May 4, 1970

"We still think of air as free. But clean air is not free, and neither is clean water. The price tag on pollution control is high. Through our years of past carelessness we incurred a debt to nature, and now that debt is being called." ~ Richard Nixon

Annual Message to Congress on the State of the Union, 1970

"While I am a great believer in the free enterprise system and all that it entails, I am an even stronger believer in the right our people to live in a clean and pollution-free environment."

"The Conscience of a Majority (1970)" ~ Barry Goldwater

"If we've learned any lessons during the past few decades, perhaps the most important is that preservation of our environment is not a partisan challenge; it's common sense. Our physical health, our social happiness, and our economic well-being will be sustained only by all of us working in partnership as thoughtful, effective stewards of our natural resources." ~ Ronald Reagan

Remarks on signing annual report of Council on Environmental Quality, July 11, 1984

"A strong nation is one that is loved by its people and, as Edmund Burke put it, for a country to be loved it ought to be lovely." ~ Ronald Reagan

The VJ community says pfft to sustainability. It's not American.

I wouldn't say the VJ community alone but definitely America as a whole. Recycling is almost nonexistent here and wastage is rampant. Our 100 gallon trash bins here are collected twice a week, with a little recycling tub that is optional to use.

Naturally, back in AUS, we had three different waste bins, with recycling being mandatory.

Red Bin - Generic waste (31 gallon bin)

Yellow Bin - Recyclables (80 gallon bin)

Green Bin - Green waste (80 gallon bin)

Think of how big Aus is and how much room they have to bury their waste, yet they still look after their country.

Recycling is easy around here. Thanks to Obama's Economic Stimulus Package, the homeless sort through your garbage, and take anything that is usable. I rarely have anything left to take to the dump, maybe twice a year.

Is Cleo homeless?

The reason the bins are color coded is just in case you visit.

I dont need different colored bins, I would just need one. If you want to divvy the garbage, have at it.
