Hi Everyone,

I am planning to file for citizenship at the end of this month and I was wondering if the evidences have to cover the whole period of marriage or only the past 3 years? I know they only ask for the tax returns for the past 3 years.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

The date since you became a LPR is far back enough, most emphasis on that is the time you were out of the country since becoming a lawful permanent resident. heck I tossed in four years of tax returns, could have tossed in five, as a subtle reminder to them for their delays, they only wanted three. Bank, insurance, joint ownership was just the most recent, three years of that stuff would require a wheelbarrow to bring that in.

So do u mean that I need to just send evidences for the past 3 years only? Sorry I am confused.

My wife only sent what was cited in the Guide to Naturalization on the USCIS website. It is M-477. At the end of the guide (page 47), it starts the M-477, Document Checklist. What it says is all that was submitted with the N-400.

Good luck.

When applying for the three year marriage, they indubitably want your last three years of tax returns, believe that other responder meant the M-476 manual, a required download at www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf.

Just said for like bank accounts, only submitted the last statement, we lived in the same home for three years, just property taxes for the last year along with a copy of our home deed. It wasn't like they wanted receipts or bank account statements for the full last three years, our most recent home, health, and auto insurance policies, but it was three years on tax returns and they do know how to count to three. Time out of the country was actually about two years and nine months for us as we applied 90 days early, but when you go in, they ask you if you left the country again.
