My husband got his work permit and green card and we didn't have to go in for an interview. Is that common? We were waiting for an appointment for the interview and the cards came in the mail. Just wanted to know if anyone had that happen before and what's next.

Thanks

Actually, yes, this is quite common for AOS applicants who entered the US on a K-1 visa. I got my green card as well without an interview.

Congratulations!

What's next is that you enjoy the next nearly 2 years without having to worry about USCIS, then within 90 days before the 2nd anniversary of the green card date - the date the card expires - the two of you apply to remove the conditions of having a 2 year green card by filing form I-751 and getting a 10 year card. Right now, you can set aside a box somewhere and start collecting 'evidence' that shows the validity of your marriage - cards and letters addressed to the two of you, financial documents, health insurance documents, travel arrangements together, etc. - things that show the two of you blending your lives together financially, physically and socially. Then, when it is time to file the I-751 it is an easy matter to go through and select the documents that prove the validity of your marriage because you have all of the evidence in one place.

Yes, some people have their Adjustment of Status applications approved without an interview :)

Congratulations! You're one of the lucky ones ^___^
