I think she's saying we should let them die so the population goes down

benefits = lower population, less people to feed & vaccinate, more money saved

I've got several partnerships with other investors in USA - our combined efforts have 5 manufacturing facilities (4 food, 1 light metal), employ 145 full time employees and another 200 part timers during peak. All in Texas.

We keep the doors open via SALES -

and one of the bigger selling points has always been -

'Made in America' .

We source our raw materials to be of USA origin, as well.

I have other partnerships, in other countries, for other things, but -

If ya want to keep manufacturing jobs in USA, someone's got to cut off the Imported Goods, for at least 18 months. All of Them.

Now, there's been lots of industries affected by this, over the past 15 to 20 years -

Clothing

foodstuffs

Software Development (ya, I know, is not manufacturing )

automotive parts ..

Appliances.

Cut it all off, I say.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Not "let them die" at all. make them less dependent on free aid. and they will be if the west stops the flow of free aid.

Well, let's be honest, a lot of them *will* probably die.

Which I'm ok with - they will die of natural causes, no-one to blame.

I didn't wanna say it, there are too many of those on VJ who have this "take from the rich, give to the poor" mentality so engrained in their heads they can't see the bigger picture, and come out en masse to attack (mostly personal insults) but you said it, and it's true.

of course, i agree too.

someone tell the William and Melinda Gates Foundation to focus on something more meaningful... money could be better spent in the US where most of it was generated.

Right. Someone should tell other people what they should do with their own money.

Sounds like some right Republican thinking, there. Errrr...... not. ;)

What you appear to be advocating is isolationism. Its a naive view that was a causative factor in both the first and second world wars.

The balance of world power and the US/European hegemony relies on interfering the affairs of other countries - either positively (emergency relief aid) or negatively (Iraq). You can certainly criticize individual policies (like Iraq) but suggesting (as I believe you have indicated elsewhere) that if the US butts out of world affairs that it will continue to enjoy its position of dominance in the world (though this is now under threat from Russia and China) along with all the first world privileges you currently enjoy, just isn't realistic.

We live in the manner we do because we exploit the poorer nations of the world for their labour and natural resources. Its morally and ehtically questionable, certainly - but it is the reality of the world.

Who is "WE"? It sure isn't the hell, "ME"!

Trade was okay when a giving country had some specialty that no other country could produce. Today it a matter of finding a country that lacks human rights with absolutely no concern about the environment. Wal-Mart has the power to bankrupt many 3rd world countries, they better do what Wal-Mart says or starve to death, even though they are already half starving. And we are not seeing the true cost of these savings, all going into the pockets of some very powerful men. It's those guys that compose that "WE". I use to deal with these very arrogant guys and know what I am talking about.

Do you know how silly you sound?

Why is that silly? The west has pumped billions into Africa yet poverty continues. What next?

What is also continuing unabated is the increase in population in those countries.

You cannot say that is the case for all nations. What percentage of the nations with the highest GDP or a high living standard fall in this category? You know what is coming and that is, who has Aus exploited to get where they are? Certainly not the indigenous folk of the land, as they don't work period.

Companies easily hide unethical practices under the umbrella of capitalism and the free market, which is total garbage. They are basically modern yet legalized slave drivers. If we really wanted to reverse poverty and the export of jobs, we would mandate that any company dealing in the US be forced to pay any workers abroad the going US rate to do the equivalent work here.

It's hard to make some people see the bigger picture Booyah, I bet those who so strongly disagree with our anti-free handout philosophy has barely travelled.
