From an ABC News/Washington Post poll of a 1,083 American adults taken over January 12-15:

The poll asked: “Generally speaking, would you say you favor smaller government with fewer services, or larger government with more services?”

Fifty-eight percent said they favor a smaller government with fewer services, and only 38 percent said they favor a larger government with more services.

Loaded question in the poll. Smaller government does not mean less services. But yet 58% still said smaller govy.

Sure. But I read this as saying that if those were the only two choices (small/less vs large/more), a majority of Americans would rather have a smaller government, even if it means less services.

Isn't that what Reagan said? And weren't we thinking about the IRS, EPA, DOT? Guess he had in mind deregulating the FTC, Wall-Street, bamnking, and health care regulations instead.

If we want smaller government, we better damn well be far more specific, all for getting rid of the IRS, EPA, and USCIS. More than likely will dump SS so we will end up having paying a huge hunk of our paychecks, getting nothing back for it.

Don't worry. There are plenty of people left that want a free ride and a handout.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Don't worry. There are plenty of people left that want a free ride and a handout.

People want financial security, equal opportunity, economic mobility. A government agenda that supports those notions is the kind of government that people will choose over any other.
