My wife has a lot of free time at home whenever I am at work. Because she is pregnant and can't work yet she watches a lot of TV to pass the time. We have Vietnamese programing over the air in Houston but she doesn't really bother watching it. After watching so much TV when I am at home she has grown to like American programing. One Channel she really love to watch is Food Network and the cooking competitions they have on that channel. She really loves those food challenges, Chopped, Iron Chef America, and Bobby Flay's Throw Down. If food network doesn't have anything good on she flips over to travel channel to watch No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and Bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmern. Sometimes they will go to Asian countries like Vietnam and Thailand and she really likes watching those. When I am home she likes watching Man Vs. Food with me and watching that guy pig out.

Right now, a show that she can't miss with me, and we always have to Tivo, is American Idol. We watched that show together for the past 3 seasons now so it's something we can't miss together as a couple.

Sports, my wife and I watch Houston Rockets basketball together a lot because I am a die hard Rockets fans and then she has her favorite players she likes watching.

If there is nothing else on to watch on her favorite channels then she goes over to the movie channels like HBO and Showtimes and watch whatever movies are on. She waits for me to come home from work and we watch a movie almost every night since I have a subscription to Netflix. We have to watch the movies with English subtitles on so she can keep up with whats going on in the movie.

We are big couch potatoes on weekdays. TV is my wife's best friend while she is pregnant. On weekends we usually go hang out with family or sometimes shop for stuff to furnish our new home. I bought my wife a car to go around places but this week the doctor put her on bed rest and she can't make it to English classes for the next 2 weeks.

Country: Vietnam
Timeline

My wife never watches TV at all. They did start to get the Vietnamese channel not long ago at the house and she watches it sometimes but never for long. I don't watch much TV but do watch sports often and also love the Houston Rockets but I am a homer and watch all the local sports teams. She is not interested in them though. She did try to watch and understand football with me and her Uncle tried to explain many parts of the game to her in Vietnamese but she finally just don't like it so never watches. (She did enjoy going to the Houston rodeo last year and is wanting to go with me again this year)

She does like her laptop I bought for her. It was mostly so she could keep in tough with her family and friends back home and she does some but she has become a huge game player. Not the big online games that take years to play but the smaller games that can be played quickly and she will play them over and over. I bought her a disc from Wal Mart that has over 150,000 games on it for $5.00 and downloaded it for her and she seems to have pretty much made a huge dent on the games there. I sometimes think I could have just spent a lot less and gotten her a cheaper lap top now but what the heck she enjoys it. In fact when I am on the road and talking to her at night on the cell phone I can hear her playing and killing and maiming whatever on the laptop.

She has to work and go to school. When she does have time watching TV, she normally watches:

PBS' programming, including but not limited to: The Antiques Roadshow, Nature (her favorite), Nova, Globe Trekker, This Old House, Great Performances, Austin City Limits

Survivor, The Amazing Race

Lately, 24 (this scares me because she loves the show so much that she demands me to rent the previous reasons 1-7 on DVDs so she can catch up)

Martha Stewart show, Rachel Ray and Sara Moulton

Edited by Dau Que

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!
