Both of those are excellent, have your landlord's letter outline how long you've lived there, the rent you pay, and when you're epected back - another option would be a doctor's apt card (if you have one), or a job letter indicating your date of return.

Good luck.

My Canadian fiance' has never had those documents with him (lease, bills, etc) but has always just told the border guards, " I am going to visit my fiance' for the weekend" They usually make him pop the trunk and since he doesn't bring anything unnecessary with him, he hasn't had a problem. I would suggest you not "move anything" to the U.S. in expectation of your visa and the border guards won't likely give you any bother.

k...glad to know you've actually been through it....cause I've read everywhere people are like yes and others are NO.....I tried calling the US embassy here in Canada today and then remembered it was your holiday in the US so they aren't open....I think i still will call to double check before I sopend $500 on the plan ticket!!!

A border guard can always say "No" if they suspect you are not being truthful. Tell the truth and do what you said you would, leave when you say you will, and I doubt you will have an issue. My fiance' has usually driven to the U.S. but he said the one flight he made to the U.S. was actually less invasive than the land crossing. Each border guard is different too!

I was denied entry twice, it had nothing to do with telling the truth. I lacked sufficient ties to Canada when I tried to cross. When I gained the ties they wanted, they admitted me

You'll be fine. Always tell the truth yes, but be prepared with ties just in case

Good luck

I lived with my dad, I was in between jobs, basically no ties and I took the generous entrance that Canadians are given for granted.

I think you'll be ok with the ties you have

Good luck

My fiance has visited almost every weekend since August 09 (we filed K1 in May 09 - pending interview now). Sometimes they make him pop his trunk, but we have been very careful about not moving stuff before his K1 is approved so it's never been a problem. He also had a letter from his boss saying he was expected to work on Monday, but he has never had to show it (he carried the letter because it made me feel better). But my suggestion as others have said - be very honest with them. Know when you're returning, have some idea of what you're doing while you visit, know the address where you're going.

Somebody told us early on to get NEXUS passes to make it easier to cross back and forth. We both applied and were approved in a short period of time. You can do the whole application on-line, and then once approved, schedule an interview for a convenient time for you. It's the best $100 ($50 each) that we have ever spent - makes border crossing super easy. My suggestion is get your NEXUS pass, even if it is after this trip and even if you're not driving across a border. It's good for longer than the Canadian passport, it's the only document you need to cross the border, and you will be able to speed up your border crossing by going through the NEXUS lane.

If you're denied from visiting, this has no impact on your making application for a visa. You may be asked about the denial at your interview, but don't lie, and you'll be fine. Several Canadians have at some point been denied for visiting their fiances during the process, and it has no impact on the granting of a visa.
