so if i'm understanding this right, steven, you want people to switch to solar, but don't give a hoot about whether or not these panels can withstand hailstones?

When you read about a new technology (car, electronics, etc), is the first concern of yours, whether it will meet Federal regulations? Nice try at recovery though.

Why don't come out and say what your real fear is, Charles? That new technologies might not meet current safety standards? Keep it coming...this gets funnier by the minute.

UL just tends to deal with commonly available electrical power, one reason why that wall transformer has become so popular. With these solar panels, just make sure they are grounded and really grounded. That way mounted high up on your roof they would be attracted to lightning.

Did you know if your bathtub wasn't grounded wouldn't get a shock if your hair dryer dropped into it? UL wants to make damn sure you get a good shock.

:secret: more like if you expect for me to buy them, given i'm in kansas and we do have this feature called hailstorms (maybe you've heard of them?), they'd better meet some pretty strict impact resistance requirements ;)

appears steven is okay with picking up shards of material from your yard after a hailstorm. don't worry about broken panels ... the government will buy you new ones ....

Yard? ####### you doin with a yard. A yard is a waste of water! The yard of tomorrow should be made up of ground up car tires and garbage. Shards of glass would just add some sparkle.
