New travel rules!

Previously, you could buy "messenger" tickets (maybe it's still possible, not sure) - you got a really low fare , but you had to give up your luggage quota to the transport company. However, I think you didn't handle the "package" and it was all legal. Since you still had to travel with the limited cabin bag, there was all kind of "tricks" on how to bring more than what was allowed. I've seen some crazy stuff while working at the airport too...

Yeah i've heard of that too - probably still goes on - but these people weren't part of that

The British guy, he agreed to carry the gold because he had apparently been unwell for some time (lack of vitamin D) - so that is why he decided to travel and as soon as he got to a warmer climate he felt so much better.

So to prove to himself and the world that he could do something risky and macho - he agreed to smuggle the gold. This guy wasn't some dimwit either - and he even had a week before taking the trip to think about it - it was interesting listening to him talk about it. It's a damn good show really.

I work for an airline...at least I do for a few more weeks! I just sent off a flight to Florida in fact, and I just wanted to assure you that you can bring your laptop and your cat. Just be sure your laptop is in a laptop bag, not a back-pack style bag, and don't pack any clothes into it either!

This is why I thank goodness that Mathew is driving down instead of flying. His kitty(which I lovingly call Fat Kitty, because she's 19 pounds) is very, erm, vocal about her likes and dislikes. Hopefully his mommy will ride down with him and can keep her calm the whole drive. It'll be a long 15 hours, but I think she'd do better with that rather than an airport full of people and sounds and smells.

I think Georgia will be giving you the cold shoulder for a few days after this.

Whatever you do, don't let the cat out of the carry bag and allow it to walk around the plane! Sounds stupid but I was on a flight once where someone did that. I looked up and saw a cat walking on the back of someones seat! A few seconds later an attendant came by and basically freaked out and scolded the owners. Some people!

I was once on a flight where the puppy chewed itself out of the soft-sided kennel. Then he escaped to the back of the plane. lol.
