I tracked my 2 NVC envelopes earlier and got this:

-----------------

Label/Receipt Number: 0308 2040 0000 5157 ****

Class: Priority Mail®

Service(s): Delivery Confirmation™

Status: Notice Left

We attempted to deliver your item at 10:52 AM on January 16, 2010 in PORTSMOUTH, NH 03801 and a notice was left. You may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice, go to www.usps.com/redelivery, or call 800-ASK-USPS to arrange for redelivery. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Detailed Results:

Notice Left, January 16, 2010, 10:52 am, PORTSMOUTH, NH 03801

Arrival at Unit, January 16, 2010, 7:57 am, PORTSMOUTH, NH 03801

Processed through Sort Facility, January 15, 2010, 3:13 pm, NASHUA, NH 03062

Acceptance, January 14, 2010, 2:41 pm, *****

-----------------

Apparently the NVC was closed at the time of delivery.I called up the USPS and they said that the NVC would have to either call and reschedule the pickup or go to the post office and pick the packet up. I am apparently not allowed to tell them when to deliver MY mail. Does the NVC actually go to the post office/schedule for redelivery or am I out 15 days until the packet comes back to me? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

there are two addresses for NVC -

postal (no signature )

and

courier delivery (requiring signature, for UPS, FEDEX, DHL, etc)

sounds to me like you sent a 'signature required' package to the postal address. Check the addresses, please.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The post office told me that they will not attempt a redelivery unless the NVC calls the post office and requests it to be redelivered. My question is does the NVC do this? Will the NVC call the post office and request redelivery?

Yes, it gets re-delivered and/or picked up by NVC... same thing happened to me on a saturday

Thank you for your reply. Not that I don't trust you but can anyone else confirm their experience on this?

Sorry I am a bit Obsessive Compulsive and I need to be assured by more than one person; but seriously thank you for your reply.

christeen is Correct. This as happend to many people here on VJ and they will Re-deliver.

By the way i know you did not try to offend anyone but christeen helps alot of people here and is very knowledgeable about everything NVC she already finished her Visa Journey. Usualy when she says something related to these topics she is correct.

Thank you. I wasn't aware she was so knowledgeable. It's just this whole process is so nerve racking and I just don't want to

screw anything up and have major delays.

Do I have to do anything special for them to redeliver it or do they just do it automatically?
