Re send I 693

Hi Friends,

I sent my AOS application in nov, 09. Gave my biometrics on 12 jan, 10. They sent me a notice saying to send I 693 again. Please tell me what exactly I 693 constitutes? (Do i have to get all tests-HIV, Chest X ray, etc. done again in U.S? I already sent previous reports from my homeland, i guess that's not acceptable). Any recommendation for a civil surgeon in N Y? Thanks.

are they requesting the entire exam or just the vaccinations?

It seems a lot of people are getting RFEs for the I-693. We sent the I-693 with our AOS packet but only had the vaccinations (from my overseas medical, DS-3025) and Tuberculin Skin Test parts filled out by the Civil Surgeon - no blood work.

If you entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa and your overseas medical is still valid (you filed AOS within 1 year of your overseas medical), you might only need to have the vaccinations transcribed and have a TST done (even if you have a chest x-ray).

Did your notice say anything about having the full medical done? You can try to call the USCIS National Customer Service Center for more info or schedule an INFOPASS appointment to find out the exact requirements. You may need to have the full medical done - blood tests, updated vaccinations (HPV is no longer required), etc.

They are requesting certain missing parts of 5 pages long I 693 Form. I have sent my original medical reports (HIV, Chest X ray etc from india). Now my point is if i get a civil surgeon to complete my I 693 form, do i have to get those tests again? I have the immunisation record though.

I don't understand why they do not clearly state if we need to get all med exam&tests done from U.S again(when they are not accepting the ones from India, done during visa processing).

@Fatima - i sent the same things that you did- complete immunisation record, verified by a CS, all valid blood tests & chest x ray done in india during visa aprocessing.

Did you have all the information transcribed/transferred from the original docs from your medical in India to the I-693 form?

It's possible that they have misplaced your medical results - you may have to get the full medical done here

The Civil Surgeon we went to agreed to transcribe my immunization records from the overseas medical but he said that I still needed to get the Tuberculin Skin Test done even if I had a chest x-ray. That might be it? There was one couple who posted about this on another thread - they scheduled an INFOPASS appointment and they were told that they did everything right with the I-693 - didn't need the full medical as per I-485 and I-693 instructions but they didn't have the TST done so that was the reason for the RFE.

I looked at the I-693 instructions at the USCIS website and there's a new form, revised 10/14/2009:

Current edition is 10/14/2009. Previous editions (Edition 06/05/2008) will be accepted for medical assessments conducted on or before December 31, 2009 only for medical exams conducted on or after November 1, 2009 that utilize the Tuberculin Skin Screening Test (TST). If a civil surgeon utilizes an IGRA test to fulfill the initial TB screening test requirement, the civil surgeon MUST use the October 14, 2009 edition of Form I-693 to record the IGRA result. On or after January 1, 2010, the results of the medical examinations must be recorded on the October 14, 2009 edition of Form I-693 irrespective of the TB test used.

That might also be the issue.

My appointment with the Civil Surgeon was last September 29, 2009 but the Civil Surgeon might not have signed our I-693 until October 21st (he was on leave for 2 weeks, if I remember correctly) so I don't know how this is going to affect us but if we do get an RFE, I figure we'll just have the full medical done if we do. *sigh...
