I thought Gravol and Dramamine have the exact same medicinal ingredients. I use it too to fly and found they both work the same for me. Interesting that you get a different effect.

The dramamine I had was a "new and improved non-drowsy" formula. It worked (mostly) but seems much weaker than the gravol I currently use.

Maybe it's dosage, as I don't know what the dosage was in the dramamine - but the gravol knocks me silly whereas the dramamine barely worked for me.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

Mal - sorry to hear about the panic attacks! I don't mind flying, but I can see how it would be scary for others. Have you tried perhaps just taking medication? I'm sure you've thought of that. That's one hell of a train ride. If you were stopping in NYC, I'd take you to lunch or something!

Last time I flew, in March, I took Celexa on the way down, and Xanax on the way back. Still was not a pleasant person to be around. :P

Aww, that's super sweet. :)

Ahh, you are actually getting the sleeper room - that will be great. They have those on VIA as well, but we didn't have that, just the drop down ones - that should make your trip even better.

Yeah, it's the small one - the one or two person room, but that's enough for me.

Montreal: BEAT!!! Approved!!!!!

That's great news huggles!

Short sales are not short, as you mentioned - but I would think foreclosures would be a reasonably safe bet. We are looking at a foreclosure here right now (although we had a bad experience with one in Orlando - but that was a very fishy...other kettle of fish).

Now, while Canadian institutions work differently, I would think foreclosures might be worth looking at there!

Good luck, I hope you find something you really love.

You might be right T-mix, I've just heard some horror stories from back home about trying to purchase foreclosed homes. I think we have 1 on the list to look at tomorrow that's a foreclosure, but our Realtor told us not to bother with one that was a short sale. He said it could take months or even a year to even get a response on your offer! Who has that much time or patience? Unfortunately we left this plan until the last minute and Bill's business opens February 1st, so we're hoping for a quick response and a quick closing so he's not forced to commute for long. An hour each way is pretty painful!

Are you and the husband in the market to buy a home? That's exciting! I hope you find something great too :)

The housing market in Colorado Springs vs. Denver is like night and day! There is so much in the Springs right now that is really affordable, its pretty fantastic. Pretty exciting but scary at the same time! :)

Nice! I really wish I was buying real estate in the US. Gulp!--a condo in Vancouver now average $400K! Insane.

It's been a welcome break, yes. Sigh. Tough though, I partied since I was 15 (so, for 25 years) and then had to quit cold turkey. It's tough on a person! Especially since I still go to the bar with hubby, everyone else is getting lubricated, and I am bored. Did you know we are actually quite stoopid when inebriated? I had no idea!

So true lol. I get really bored hanging with drunk people when Im sober.

I think "How lame. How can I find us funny when Im partaking?"

We are looking for a place right now (may even have found one). Just a small place to get us out of this apartment and back to owning! I hate wasting rent money. We will probably keep it for 2 years or so then sell it.

It is a foreclosure and they have been great, in fact I think I prefer dealing with a bank owner rather than a 'person' owner, banks don't get emotional when you make a low offer

Oh mah god...

that's fvcking CRAZY!!!!!

Vancouver has gone gangbusters...

It's been like that for quite awhile here.

My parents just got their assessment the other day. They live out in Langley, which is a solid 40 minute drive (in ideal traffic) from downtown Vancouver. They bought their house in 1994 for $233,000. As of this year, it is assessed as being worth $425,000. Most of that is for sheer property value. With the amount they've spent on renovating kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, roof etc., they could surely get upwards of $500,000 for it.

Even the "downswing" in the housing market hasn't been much of a downswing...

I'm really glad I'm totally acclimatized to living in an expensive area though. It makes all the cheaper things of where I'm moving to seem that much cheaper!

Woo, I managed to get my engagement ring off!

I wanted to see if my wedding ring would go on, and with a bit of soap it would. Not exactly matching with my engagement ring, but one of the rings is also 3 years old.... then I couldn't get it off. Ehehe. I just struggled for like 5 minutes trying to get my wedding ring off and so I thought that I may as well try the engagement ring, it came off too.

Maybe with them off I'll help my finger de-swell a bit. I think the engagement ring came off easier because the band is rounded and more comfort fitting, the wedding ring is flat on the inside.

The thing is, my wedding ring looks kinda funny on top the engagement ring. How are the two generally worn? The wedding ring first than the engagement ring, or vice versa? Or is it a personal taste thing.

My money is on your too lgg, but a girl can dream!

I accepted an offer 4 days after I put my house up for sale. Course it had to go through inspection and all, and I put the closing of the house to just before I moved; but each case is different. You just never know...you could find one soon!!

Best wishes!!!!

Usually I've always' seen the wedding ring closet to your hand, and then the engagement on top of that...*shrugs* really don't know it that "the" way to wear them or not.. My first marriage, I had both, my second, just the wedding band, and this one...nothing..

My wife says it's supposed to be a certain way, but that she wears it the other way around from what the proper way is supposed to be. Of course, I can't remember which order she wears them in, so I guess I'm not really all that helpful now, am I?
