BEIRUT, Lebanon - A U.N. observer post was hit by an Israeli airstrike in south Lebanon Tuesday, killing four peacekeepers, U.N. officials said.

A bomb directly hit the building and shelter of an Indian patrol base from the observer force in the town of Khiyam near the eastern end of the border with Israel, said Milos Struger, spokesman for the U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon known as UNIFIL.

U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said in New York that the Security Council was informed that four officers with UNIFIL were killed, but he had no other information.

"We're obviously very sorry," Boltin said. "We're attempting to get information where we can to confirm the nature of the incident."

Struger also said there were 14 other incidents of firing close to this position from the Israeli side Tuesday afternoon. "The firing continued even during the rescue operation," he said.

Since Israel launched a massive military offensive against Lebanon and Hezbollah guerrillas July 12, an international civilian employee working with UNIFIL and his wife have been killed in the crossfire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah guerrillas in the southern port city of Tyre.

Five UNIFIL soldiers and one military observer have also been wounded, Struger said.

Is that so????? I'm glad that you can tell me how I feel. Do you have anything to back up this statement? Or is this just your personal opinion? In any case, please don't take it upon yourself to speak in the interest of the arab nation.

Dont believe that he was talking about you specifically...only on how the general Arab world views Israel. So maybe you are the exception.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

That's a pretty big generalization to be making, don't you think? I am not the only exception. I guess generalizions in are ok then? What gives him or you knowledge of the arab world? Even if you have been there or know someone, you wouldn't know what it means to be an arab unless you are one.

This article was posted to show how out of hand this war has gotten and how out of control Israel is. They are punishing the entire nation of Israel for the acts of a MINORITY in Lebanon. Hezbollah is a minority is Lebanon. They do not represent the nation or the nations interests.

May I ask what do you think is the appropriate response for Israel against Hezbollah? Should Israel allow Hezbollah to remain a military threat?

Generization are NOT ok first of all. Secondly, Lebanon has slowly been trying to dismantle Hezballah. Syria has not been out of the country for even one year yet so the government was finally getting on its feet. If at any point the government used force to get rid of Hezbollah, it would spart a civil war. Hezbollah is a Shiate muslim group. Most muslims in Lebanon are Sunni. Sunni Muslims don't consider Shiate's to be muslims and there is alot of conflict as you can see from the war in Iraq. When Hariri was assasinated, it put an even bigger wedge between the Sunni's and Shiates in Lebanon because it was suspected that he was assasinated by Syria who backs Hezbollah. Hariri was a very loved figure in Lebanon, Syria was ousted from Lebanon after 30 years!!!! I think the goverment of Lebanon was doing a fine job of dealing with Hezbollah on a political basis to disarm them, but ofcourse these things need time. They didn't want to risk civil war either. Lebanon is not not controlled by another country or interest, its a young goverment attempting to get on its feet after years of destruction, doesn't look like that will be happening now.

I think there are diplomatic ways that it could be resolved. I think there was mistakes made on both sides. The only way for Israel to be sure that Hezbollah is not ever going ot be a military threat is to destroy the entire country and its people because there is no way for them to be able to know who is what. Is that logical?

Without Lebanon having a strong enough government, Hezbollah will continue it's terrorism. How can Lebanon's government be strengthened so that it can prevent groups such Hezbollah? Especially when Hezbollah is getting support from Syria and Iran. It's a terrible situation but I'm not sure there is any viable option Israel has except to dismantle Hezbollah or leave themselves vulnerable to random attacks.

Exactly Lebanon needs help stregthening its government. However destroying it not the solution. The entire country in in ruins. The PM of Syria is just waiting for a phone to step in and help. The government of lebanon has reached out to many countries for help yet NO ONE has stepped in. They know they are weak government, they know they need help, and they are against Hezbollah but they are paying the price for it. Another country...besides Syria Israel should have attempted to help Lebanon stregthen its government to avoid it's destruction. Israel actions have just given more reason for other "terrorist" groups that back Hezbollah to continue terrorizing them. You can't "scare" a terrorist. In their eyes, they have nothing to lose.

I am not speaking on behalf of any Arab Nation... and trust me I have no desire to. I am just making a general statement.

SO with that said...... Please reread my statement about Arabs and Muslims..... I said JUST ABOUT every Arab and Muslim... I did not say ALL Arabs or Muslims. If I had said ALL Arabs and Muslims, then you can make your statement.
