I have to agree with Jenn about Sara Ramirez. I like some jelly on a woman, so she's one of my heroines of tv coz she breaks away from the tyranny of bony, pale women and keeps it real. It's too bad they made her character gay, tho. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Michelle Obama is at best plain. She needs badly to borrow Oprah's make up artist, as he is a miracle worker among homely women. I cringe at much of Michelle's wardrobe, too. Horizontal stripes on her lower half? OMG! NO! But, she insists on wearing them. Why?

Barry's no looker either, but their kids are very cute. The older girl is on her way to becoming quite a heatbreaker.

I didn't think Bill Clinton was handsome either. Maybe I'm odd that way.

Sara Ramirez is chunky, but I still think she's hot!

I agree, all this fanfare about Mrs Obama being attractive, is evidence of the parrot nature of so many people.

I think she does a very good job with the looks she has but come on, to call her "beautiful" (and they mean it physically) IS just plain silly.

Photos on magazine covers are hardly any means to judge someones beauty as they are creations more than reflections.

It depends if the chunks are in the right places. Nothing sexy about chunky ankles or oatmeal backside.

but it's not like you can lose weight on your ankles....

Horizontal stripes on her lower half? OMG! NO!

Put down that Glamour magazine, Danno.

I'm not here to defend Michelle Obama's looks. I think talking about it, whether positive or negative says that we've still got a long way to go when it comes to treating women equally.

Women talk about it way more than men do. And they're usually saying how awesome she looks, how trendy she is, how glamorous she is, blah blah blah. I hear it all the time, at work and from family and friends.

All I'm doing here is pointing out the obvious fact that it's all such a load of #######.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

But I think we're forgetting that Michelle Obama is not a politician. She's married to a politician. We're not overlooking her accomplishments to discuss her clothing choices. She doesn't have any accomplishments in the truly political sense.

Given, she is an extraordinarily accomplished woman in her own right, she is upfront and the topic of conversation not due to these accomplishments but rather her relationship to the President. The media is pushing the debutante image of her, we're merely responding to that.

AMEN!

And I adore Sara Ramirez. She is one mamacita caliente that breaks barriers like Sofiyya said

The media is commenting on her fashion sense, which IMO, is far different from giving her a thumbs up or down on her looks. I realize that part of it is the First Couple have become celebritized by the media and there's a whole industry that thrives by focusing on who's hot and who's not. However, there seems to be a double standard towards female public figures who aren't celebrities by choice.
