Hey Kids - not sure if anyone's done this before but after pleading mercy from the person on the phone at NVC for any contact info for someone to an embassy (trying to make sure if at all possible we can avoid getting scheduled on or near the due date for our kid). I just was told to call the main state dept number for visas. Took quite some time of listening to menu options but I did get to speak to a very kind person who gave me an email to inquire with. Also its the first time I've talked with someone from DoS that doesn't appear to be reading a script.

The reason MTL is so far behind, it was explained to me is they lost a lot of Consular Officers with not enough lead time to hire new ones... 5-6 month wait is what she's seeing across the board. I know this is common knowledge but good to see that's what we're seeing here is more accurate of the greater population.

The number I called was: 202.663.1225

after you call the DOS number...press 1 and then press 0, so you don't have to sit through the 5 minutes of the automative system.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

Yes Peachy posted this info back in October. So I see it's been 2 months - at least - and still no improvement.

I was surprised that the lady was nice enough to tell me the 5-6 months thing. Just about any other country and I suspect we'd have an interview scheduled now.

After months of them being understaffed you'd think they'd have hired more staff by now. Seriously...how many people just stop coming to work as a Consulate Officer...its not like its a teenager working at McD's or something. Its been months since they have been understaffed and except for that one scheduling frenzy in Oct for the the K1's it doesn't seem like much is happening. They now have a pile of K1's just on here alone waiting and still haven't caught up on all the CR1's and IR1's. All we can do is hope they have another scheduling frenzy in January and get all caught up but if they are still understaffed I can't see how that could happen.

You allowed for the vacation period, correct? They've only had it a couple of business days. Even if yours is the only one received, I wouldn't have expected them to have processed it by today.
