Hopefully they did not trick you into purchasing the collision insurance, as most car insurance and/or credit cards (eg, Amex) already cover that.

Only a couple are actually government taxes. If they are located at an airport, they may pay a fee of some sort to the airport commission, but it looks like the rest of it is the company trying to make the base rate look competitive when its really not.

Rental car customers will pay $2 more a day at Logan International Airport beginning Dec. 1, a fee increase that was approved yesterday by the Massachusetts Port Authority board to help pay for a consolidated rental car facility.
