Hi everybody! My name is Doug and I'm new to this forum. I am a U.S. citizen living in Alaska and my fiance, Donna, is a Canadian citizen living in B.C. We have been reading as much as possible in preparation for filing for a K1 fiance visa. We're anxious to get this started but want to fully understand the process first.

I'm sure we'll have alot of questions so thank you in advance for any help and advice we receive. Donna is not registered here yet. She may register separately or we may re-register together and share an account.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all and thank you again for any info you may share with us.

Hi Doug, and welcome. Congrats on finding VJ. It's an amazing resource, and can help you every step of the way. People are very helpful here, and we've been through it! It will seem like it takes forever to get through it, but it'll pass faster than you realize!

While the process is always frustrating, it will be a lot less frustrating than otherwise because you will be able to share your experiences and compare your timelines with others also going through the process. Welcome to VJ Doug and Donna!

Because Donna lives in BC she will interview for the K-1 visa in Vancouver which will speed up your process by a few months! The only other consulate in Canada that does K-1 interviews is Montreal and they are backlogged with a wait time for interviews around 4 months after completing the Packet 3 stage of the process. You will most likely be able to get an interview date within 2 months or less of sending back Packet 3 in Vancouver at the current wait times.

April 13, 2009 - Welcome to the USA letter rec'd. PRC to be rec'd within 3 weeks.

April 16, 2009 - 2 yr GC rec'd in mail.

March 2, 2011 - Mailed in I-751 to CSC

March 4, 2011 - I-751 delivered to CSC

March 4, 2011 - NOA issued

March 12, 2011 - NOA received

April 14, 2011 - BIO Appt 5/6/11

May 6, 2011 - BIO done in 10 minutes...no re-takes this time :)

June 27, 2011 - Email rec'd "Status - Approved"

July 1, 2011 - 10 yr GC arrived
