My fiancé had her interview in Guangzhou a few hours ago and received a blue slip. They did not ask for any more information but said case needed additional processing. anyone know what this means and about how long. We already went thru 32 days at NVC in AP. Any advise or thoughts would be appreciated. thank you

I am sorry to hear about the AP. AP at the NVC level is most likely the name checks. At the embassy, AP can either be name checks or the embassy doing their own checks on your relationship or document verification. Call DOS Monday and ask them about the additional processing. They will be able to tell you if it's name checks or if the embassy is doing internal checks.

Unfortunately there is no way to know how long AP will last.

I hope your AP is short.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

There is no rule, but there is pattern, for 'mail out' cycle.

So - if they kept her passport, figure 1 week to 2 months.

If they didn't keep her passport, figure 1 to 4 months.

'Mail Out' Cycle - notices are batched out , sent all one time, several times each month.

then - it ain't over till it's over - she's in AP - could take some time - is no rule for this - at all.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yes the first thing i asked is did they keep your passport and they did not. I read somewhere that in name check if they see you have been fingerprinted they always check into that person further. Curious because i have been but not for a crime. I have a CCW permit and i would think that would make it easier for them to know i have clean background. Or maybe because my sister and husband are ex military. My brother in law now work's for the military even though he is retired from military ( served 20 years). Would that make them check further? In the end like you said it is not over till the fat lady sings and I do not hear any music yet. Really sucks though , back to not knowing when or if.

Specifically about namechecks -

Namechecks occur at every stage of this process, on different levels. USUALLY FBI checks are fast.

However, it IS namechecks on both of you.

Have a read? http://www.usaimmigrationattorney.com/Secu...tiveReview.html

Good Luck !

You might want to start calling DOS (get a Human ) every coupla days, ask for status on the casefile - but.

Ask for the current status, with the date/time stamp and

the last 3 status change thingies, with the date/time stamp.

Do this for a month, you'll start to notice some pattern (if things, do, indeed, start to move ).

Good Luck !

Yes i have been e-mailing them every couple weeks but i think it is time for another one. I have not e-mailed them since they called me for a phone interview. They did say that they see i have e-mailed them several times. Yes when you call DOS often you can get a lot more info , like last status change and such. Every person you talk at DOS is different. Some tell a little more than others but every couple weeks there has been a status change. I'm glad the embassy is only closed for 3 days this week and not the whole week so hopefully i will hear something fairly soon. Thanks again for all your help.

eek - ok - so you have been emailing - thats good. at some point, they'll have a real answer for you after the additional processing is completed.

re: calling DOS - I swear to GOD - those 'prior 3 status thingies' are meaningful - just remind the tele-operator to 'scroll down' or 'go to 2nd page' to see them .

Good luck but be advised you're dealing with a Consulate, not the Embassy.
