The Columbus Dispatch reports that Parsley is saying his ministry is under a "demonically inspired financial attack." Here's the clip from his television program, "Breakthrough":

The proximate cause of Parsley's trouble, it seems, is a $3 million deficit for the fourth quarter and a $3.1 million legal settlement over a 2006 incident in which a two-year-old child in a Parsley-affiliated daycare center was spanked so hard that his "buttocks and legs were covered with welts and abrasions":

The boy, then 2, said he was spanked with a "knife" by a substitute teacher. His parents, Michael and Lacey Faieta, believe it was a ruler.... The Faietas said Parsley refused to meet personally with them and that the church did not apologize or take accountability for the beating.... Mr. Faieta said he and his wife were "disgusted" and "saddened" by Parsley's words.

The devil works in mysterious ways.

I used to like Rod Parsley years and years ago. What made me stop was the whole money thing and selling things after his preaching telecasts all the time. This kind of thing is a shame for the Christian world and a bad example to the rest of the world. However, there are still many good pastors as well.

Spare the ROD?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

There's just something odd about Televangelists. I personally don't see it as good ministry.

I don't like watching any of them now. I mostly get annoyed because so many discuss money as an answer to your life and how much you should be giving them. My dad has said it well, that rich pastors are asking people like widows living on social security to "sow" into their ministries with large sums of money(ministries which are already rich), but instead they should be giving THEIR $ to the widows. My dad is a pastor btw.

EWTN still has some good programming...but...I also don't like it when they sell stuff. Just rubs me wrong...

I think that my bank acct and 401(K) and stock holdings are also under a 'demonically inspired financial attack'...ya...thats the ticket...:lol:

I couldn't watch the clip because my company blocks it...but...even without seeing the clip, just reading the headline above made me chuckle outloud...because it is so entirely ridiculous.

At times...its difficult being a Christian...but this kinda shoIt makes it even harder <sigh>

But anyways...we find the laffs where we can!:thumbs:

Well - since he thinks "Satan" took the money, perhaps "God" will give it back?

If he wants to describe himself as satan, all well and good. As I don't believe in satan, perhaps he'll disappear up his own posterior? I can only hope. Teleevangelism is devil's work. I can't find any good in it at all - have you ever noticed that they don't actually tell you anything? Nothing at all, just heaps and heaps of empty rhetoric designed to empty your pockets. A great scam ;)

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I wouldn't discount their influence on people. They're pretty effective at appealing to people's emotions or they'd be broke.

Did I suggest they don't influence people? Clearly, they do, or they would indeed be broke, but what do they influence people to do? Anything useful to themselves or anyone else apart from the coffers of the evengelist? I think not. It's quackery at its worst. However, free country, people are free to be fools.
