As sad as it is, I thought this hits the nail right on the head.

Senate Unveils CompromiseCare

Details of Healthcare Plan Revealed

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) - The United States Senate today unveiled details of its health care plan, tentatively called CompromiseCareTM:

  • Under CompromiseCareTM, people with no coverage will be allowed to keep their current plan.
  • Medicare will be extended to 55-year-olds as soon as they turn 65.
  • You will have access to cheap Canadian drugs if you live in Canada.
  • States whose names contain vowels will be allowed to opt out of the plan.
  • You get to choose which doctor you cannot afford to see.
  • You will not have to be pre-certified to qualify for cremation.
  • A patient will be considered "pre-existing" if he or she already exists.
  • You'll be free to choose between medications and heating fuel.
  • Patients can access quality health care if they can prove their name is "Lieberman."
  • You will have access to natural remedies, such as death.

My cousins by marriage are named Lieberman. Do you think I can opt for the "distant relative of a Lieberman" exemption?

Oh, they live in Canada, too, by the way.

some where in canada, tomorrow, they are having a drawing for who among 2000 people gets the next MRI slot. you know, coz they don't have enough machines.

My parents live in Canada (I grew up there).

My mom had an MRI on her foot in Sept after it became inflamed and she was unable to walk on it. Waiting time: about 4 days. She was then scheduled for surgery followed by 6 week recuperation at a physical therapy center. It's now flared up again, and she's looking at further surgery after New years.

MRI, doctor consultations, hospitalization, surgeries - all occurring on a timely basis in accordance with her condition (serious, but not life threatening). Cost: entirely covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Program), a government run single payer system.

Better to have the scan in the immediate future than to never have it because you can't afford it. Senate health care plan is a joke, a complete sell out to the Pharmaceutical and Health Insurance industries. What about the American people Senators or are you so far up the backside of the corporations you can't see past your own bank balance?

Horrible. What about choice? Americans love the ability to choose more than the ability to receive affordable, quality care.
