I keep reading different things on here. Some have said 125% of the poverty level for 2 people. Some say 100% for 2 people. Some have said 125% for one person. I dont get it. What really is the minimal requirement? And don't assume that it's the same as the I-864 either.

It is 125% of the poverty line unless you are military...The poverty line is as attached.

It is 18212 for 2 in the lower 48 for 125%.

this can be found on the USCIS site under I-864P

Well it's both! ... you see the K1 Visa requirement as connected to the I-129F and the I-134 (Financial) requires 100% of poverty line to get the Visa. BUT the I-864 (affidavit of support) you fill out and which the alien petitioner files along with her I-485AoS (Adjustment of Status) after she gets to US and you marry, requires 125% of poverty level. Ain't bureaucracy grand?

This can vary from one embassy/consulate to another.

As Mike stated the form mentions 100%, but the CO has the latitude to require the 125%. The best course of action to ask the embassy directly and/or consult other VJ'ers who have recently secured visas at your embassy.
