Embassy Review : I have written extensively in my blog (http://lieberman.blog.netwright.net:7080/) about our experiences with the Embassy and the call center. While the CIS portion so far as been well done - the Embassy was riddled with problems. From the first Embassy (Air 21 delivered) letter we did not get (and we are not the only one who had this problem), to the matter of what constitutes a valid NBI form - and "fixing" one, to the run-around on picking up our Visa, to continual misinformation from the call-center, to the person (at Window 44) who while acknowledging the approved visa had not been processed - told me in the same breath that the request to expedite, submitted a week earlier and after we were notified the visa was approved, had previously been approved. Everyone was nice - but the system was incompetent.
Rating : Poor

Embassy Review : Smooth! Allowed me (US Citizen) to accompany my fiancee and her daughter through the visitors line. The Immigration officer was new and had to seek a bit of guidance, but the guidance was provided quickly. The officer asked nice questions to our 11yo and smiled as she welcomed my new family to the USA. Great experince.
Harassment Level : Low

Embassy Review : Pro: All personnel were nice. The Interviewing Officer was pleasant and truly decent. He asked the questions he needed to, but did so in a comfortable manner and the whole process was pleasant.

Con: There is a time frame problem in this office. It seems to take over four months between the NOA and the Interview for all who must use this office. Plus the Officer at the interview claimed it might take another 90 days to get the final approval even though there were no problems with our case and no paperwork missing. We are downgrading the rating from 5 to 4 because of the timing issue only.

Weird: The address for the office is "East B" Street. But there is no "East B". There is an "East A" and a "East C". The office is between East A and East C on Durbin. It is behind the post office which fronts on Wolcott.
Harassment Level : Good

It has all changed in the over nine years since I first started the process. I now live in the Philippines with my wife of nine years. And I have a sister-in-law who is now just starting the process, but the process is very different now.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
