the sponsor and income

Thanks for your help so far and just have one other issue,, i will go to the Philippines and see fiance come back here to the states and file fiance visa. The issue i have is this---I am on social security Disability {ssd} i have been told immigration does not consider SSD as income, in other words i will be denied to sponsor her because of my income, is this true?? My ssd income barely surpasses the 125% poverty medium. My other question is that when I come back from the Philippines when will I know they will deny me to bring her here because of income? Howmuch money will I throw away before they inform me of denial?? i know of getting another co sponsor but that is not possible.

The process is not as simple as going to the PI and bring her back to the US and file for the K1 visa!

income determination is done at the consulate stage, just prior to a visa decision.. in other words at the absolute very end of the visa process

I'm not sure that the OP was implying he intended to bring his fiancee with him straight away, I think his wording may have been slightly confusing.

I worked out the costs a long time ago and it was around $1600 to get to the embassy interview stage (based on the I-129F filing fee, London embassy fees and costs I will incur getting various reports for the interview). I think that the AOS processing fee is around $1700(???) if I remember correctly. A serach on the USCIS website and relevant embassy website will give the most up to date fees.

My main issue is that my source of income is SSDI which is just above 125% poverty level and because of this i can be denied a fiance visa -I know the process and the amount but my main fear is that i will waste all the money just to be denied because of my income>

I am pretty confident that I have seen other VJ'ers use SSDI.

Do you have any other assets that can be used in your affidavit of support?

You need to understand the difference between SSDI and SSI before you run off at the mouth.

The main concern is if you are bringing an immigrant into the US that may end up on welfare because of your lack of income to support the beneficiary.

listen i have worked hard allmy life and just hurt myself on my job, i never collected welfare of any kind and any spouse of mine will not collect any welfare and i take offense to anyone to suggest this------mu question is simple people need to get off the political bandwagon and get some human feeling in them
