I've always wondered if there are people out there that are dumb enough to go along with winning the lottery trip.

Ain't no free lunch.

You have to figure that there are still a few who have, else these spam emails wouldn't still be circulating. If one sucker out of a million of these emails sends his information...well, it's worth it to the spammer/scammer, isn't it?

Tanstaafl isn't a concept many folks embrace, sadly!

Doesn't surprise me, people are greedy and stupid (not all people of course :lol: )

As a kind-of-silly-thing-to-do - thing.

I play world of warcraft and we have scammers there too - they post things or whisper you a message - like - the company is offering new free mounts for xmas time - log on to this site with your password to sign up.

Now who would fall for that?

Well, in fact someone in our group did that a couple of weeks ago - of course they recorded his login and hacked his account.

This isn't some kid either, 40ish something guy - married, in the army.

Only idiots fall for the Username/password scam.

I used to be a Game Master for a game and it's sad how many people would PM me begging for their account back cause they lost it to a scammer.

I actually came somewhat close to falling for a scam last week. I received an email that was ostensibly from my ISP's support centre, asking for account verification. I'd received one or two of these scams in the past and deleted them, of course. This one was well-written though, and came a day after I'd finally gotten my internet and digital phone back (after them being offline for nine days). It didn't take me long to realize that it was, in fact, a scam...but it was convincing enough that it gave me pause for thought. I can imagine people thinking something like that is legit.

I can't even begin to get into the mindset of those believing those Nigerian scams though. That takes a level of naivete far beyond my ken.
