When applying for AOS, how long does it usually take to be granted advance parole? Can my wife travel abroad while she is on advance parole?

The reason I'm asking is because we're planning to do a civil court marriage here in the US on approval of the K1 visa, then traveling to Ireland for a second "family wedding" with a church, reception, honeymoon, etc. We're worried that my (soon to be) wife will not be able to leave the states if AOS has not been approved before the wedding party in Ireland. She is freaking out now, so I hope someone can offer some information that will ease both of our minds.

Thanks,

John

Usually about 2 months from filing and yes, she can travel abroad with the AP

But let me add, making specific plans for travel abroad while the AOS is processing is not wise. She will have to be here for a biometrics appointment (before the AP is issued, usually) and quite probably for an interview, so I wouldn't be planning any long trips and make sure someone can check your mail and notify you of any communications.

Thanks for the quick response :)

So how long does AOS usually take? The family wedding we're planning (in Ireland) isn't until June, 2011. Is it likely we'll have AOS out of they way by then?

Thanks,

John

btw, how do you add quotes to a post?

Ok, I found the California office has an estimated processing time of 4 months for the I485 AOS application.

Does that sound about right?

AOS typically takes 2-6 months. Ours was 2 months and Alla had her green card before she got her AP.

yes but that is only if you are transfered to CSC or if your local office is CSC. If it is not then you need to look for your local office as they will do the processing not CSC.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Just click on "reply" in the lower right corner and then add your resonse under the last "quaote" tag.

The processing time is from when you FILE, not from when she arrives. I would get it filed ASAP after you marry.

Just to add, I noticed your local office is Detroit? There have been a couple VJ users who were recently processed in Detroit and issued an interview. They were approved around 3 months after filling.
