we need another Watergate.

That's been the Right Wing's wet dream since Nixon went down in flames.

Why?

We already have another Vietnam.

"If you can find money to kill people, you can find money to help people"

Brilliant post!

The money you want to find is in someone else's pocket since the government and none of you liberal beggers have none of your own to help yourselves.

All this juvenile catterwalling about how "everyone else is doing health care" in the world is more mindless capitulating to big government nannyism by people who have the money to spend on importing a spouse, but want someone else's money to take care of their ills. How rich is that?!

what's shocking to me is that anyone thinks Americans will accept the ####### healthcare the rest of the industrialized world has put up with.

The US is forming its own healthcare policies.... they're not adopting someone else's.

And I fear for the Canadians that flood across the border every day to use the medical services in Vermont...what are they going to do now?

What's funny is that you think you've just posted a brilliant rebuttal when, in fact, those who know otherwise are amused - and possibly even intrigued - by the ignorance.

Wait? So Quebec is not Canada? (I know Quebecois would prefer that but still) I mean our clinics are filled with cars from Quebec and the hospitals also. Should I believe you or my lying eyes?

But see, I don;t care if it is a Republican Watergate or Dem Watergate. Anything that causes government gridlock is cool by me. Iam not right wing so I wouldn't know, I just want the gridlock. The Republicrats are doing things best when they do nothing

Exactly. You've embraced the notion that government is not "the people", but some scary monster to feared and loathed.

Yes, it is the notion contained in our constitution. This government IS scarey and should be lotheed and YES that applies to BUSH also when he was there.

Nothing would make Obama's opponents happier than to see his administration mired in controversy. They spent several years and millions of dollars trying to bring down the last Democrat in the White House. When you can't debate the merits of their policies and agenda, then you fight to delegitimize them politically. That's why this health care reform is so pivotal to rest of Obama's agenda.

Yes and the libs are spending millions to bring down Sarah Palin when she has no power whatsoever. 11 reporters assigned to "fact-check" her book, 0 to fact check Obama's book, and 5 to check the HCR bill.

Too bad you weren't the president. Then we could criticize you and call you all kind of names without being suspended. You're worse than those you constantly belittle.

Bu tin reality the Democrats are thinking..."oh ####### we are about to turn our healthcare over to the same government that runs USCIS" I can;t wait for the healthcare call center to be set up. :help:

Yeah, 'cause Medicare is such a nightmare. People hate the living guts out of it. Oh wait, they don't. Medicare outscores PHI on every measure. But why let inconvenient truths get in the way of mocking a perfectly legitimate effort? What's the fun in that?

Bullsh!t. Government back then had a negative connotation because of absolute rule such as the British Monarchy. When our Founding Fathers established a Republic here, there was still a lot of fear and uncertainty that an elected leader may try to usurp his power, and throw out the mechanisms of a representational democracy. That's the key to our government being "the people" vs. an absolute ruler. As long as those mechanisms are in tact then we never fear or loathe government because our government is the one we make it to be. After 200 plus years and one Civil War, this nation now has a track record of those mechanisms working. It may not be perfect, but it is the best system of government and to fear and loathe the very mechanisms amounts to nothing more than anti-American government sentiment. If you think you know of a better system, by all means, start your own system of government.

He could move to Australia, everything is much better there. If you want, I can post a few hundred charts to prove it.

You are trying way too hard, Spooks. There is no need for hundreds of pages to prove it. We already know it is a great place to live:

AUSTRALIA: A PRIVILEGED STANDARD OF LIFE

The United Nations has declared Australia to be the second best country in the world to live due to the excellent quality of life afforded to Australian residents.

The UN came to this conclusion based on an anual survey evaluating indices of social and economic welfare in 174 countires. Australia ranks highly due to the its record in providing access to education, high life expectancy, and low levels of crime.

In a separate study of 130 world cities the Economic Intelligence Unit of the The Economist qualified Melbourne as one of the two best cities in the world to live, followed by Perth in third place, and Sydney, Brisbane y Adelaide in eighth place.

The study named five Australian cities in the top eight cities in the world to live.

“We really found very little to complain about in Melbourne, is is nearly the perfect city”, said Bill Ridgers, editor of the study.

Commonly the Australian life style is percevied as more relaxed than in other countries. In part his is due to the wealth of the country and the absence of extreme poverty, but also the friendly attitude of ordinary people.

With a strong economy, even in these times of financial crisis, Australia is the perfect place to be young and fancy free or to bring up a family.

Good constitutions are formed upon a comparison of the liberty of the individual with the strength of government: If the tone of either be too high, the other will be weakened too much. It is the happiest possible mode of conciliating these objects, to institute one branch peculiarly endowed with sensibility, another with knowledge and firmness. Through the opposition and mutual control of these bodies, the government will reach, in its regular operations, the perfect balance between liberty and power.

Alexander Hamilton, speech to the New York Ratifying Convention, June 25, 1788
