Let's talk pants. When we heard that blokes only buy pants for 17 years of our lives, we had visions of having to live into retirement in this same pair of dodgy y-fronts.

Luckily for us (and everyone who ever has the misfortune to see us getting undressed) we'd misunderstood the findings of this critical piece of 'research'.

A study by department store Debenhams found that up to the age of 19, the chances are your mother will buy your underwear - and by the time you reach 36-years-old your wife or girlfriend will have taken over pant buying duties.

This leaves just 17 years where men are responsible for picking out their pants.

In that time we are said to select our y-fronts or boxers based on whether they're likely to impress prospective partners - which could explain why, despite our secret longing to, we don't still wear our Transformer pants.

A spokesperson for Debenhams said it was odd that almost all men delegated pant buying to mothers or partners. He added that he would be keen to know what light a Freudian analysis would shed on this trait. Because that's what you want when buying pants isn't it, a Freudian analysis?

This might solve the mystery of why old men wear their pants up to their chests.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I wear my wife's.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

My husband does not let me buy his clothes. He wouldn't let his mother pick them either. I don't think you can buy zunfthose here, so mostly it is a non-issue, as far as pants are concerned. He just stocks up whenever we are in Germany. I'm not sure which of us has more pants.
