HI,

I'm not sure if you can do that - I know that you can put time out of the country, for a time prior of the application. On the interview they will ask you if there were any changes.

But you should know that you will get biometrics letter soon after you file (around 2 weeks later) and if you're out of the country that will postpone your application for uncertain time. Can't you just file after you're back in the States??? Good luck!

Hi,

No you do not need to, as you could never be sure about tomorrow. As long as you have spend enough time in USA to meet the requirements for N-400, foreign trips would not matter.

You can always add the trip (reprint that trips sheet) while appearing before the officer for an interview.

All the best

How about leaving the application in the care of a friend to mail two weeks before you return? That way you won't have to worry about missing a biometrics appointment that almost definitely will come for when you are out of the country. Either that or wait until your return. If you leave the application with someone to mail for you, then include the dates that you are away. If you are sending the application off before you leave, then don't include the dates. If you mail the application after you return, then include the dates. In the first case you will be asked about any additional travel out of the country since you applied and you would tell them then. Personally, I wouldn't mail it now - you will almost definitely miss your biometrics appointment.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
