K-3 Co-Sponsor

Good evening,

I have a question regarding a co-sponsor for the K-3 Visa. I am filing my K-3 Visa application with an immigration law office and they have been telling me that I just need an employment verification letter, providing my hourly salary, that I am full-time and my hire date. I also had my employer provide in the letter that the benefits from my job would cover my spouse. In addition to this, I make more than the poverty limit (~$18,000) requirement by USCIS.

They told me that I would not need a co-sponsor since I am filing the I-130 and then the I-129F for the K-3. Is this true? It seems like I have been reading a lot of conflicting information on here and what they are telling me. I have a lot of confidence in what they have told me since they have worked with several clients from the same country to which I am applying and there is limited information on this website regarding the K-3 and to the country for which I am applying. The only thing that concerns me is having a co-sponsor ready if need be for the interview, which I think is the I-134. I just want to avoid all delays as possible for the visa as the process to bring my spouse over to the US is long enough as it already is.

Two things:

1. DON'T USE A LAWYER THEY ARE A WASTE OF GOOD MONEY!

2. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON A K-3, GO WITH THE IR1/CR1 VISA.

For a household size of 2 under the Poverty Guidelines is $18,212 if your just over that, say $19-20,000 then I would secure a co-sponsor. If your around $25- 30,000 you should be fine. Only you know the answer. If you want to “avoid all delays” then prepare a co-sponsor and if your in need, you have one ready.

You will need at a minimum for the I-134

two to three of your most recent pay stubs and a signed letter from your employer listing you job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time) of your position.
