I'm driving my husband nuts, he says he can't wait until I have that EAD, lol !!!!!! This waiting really stinks !

Yep that sounds familiar, though I think my husband is enjoying how clean the house is, from my waiting for EAD boredom!

Thank you! Ah Cleveland should be lovely - you get a white Christmas! I didn't know you guys had dogs too, (I remember reading about Shani's) that's so nice. My hubby and I want to get a dog next summer, once the snows gone. We haven't decided yet which type, we're researching at the moment, we just know that it has to be at least medium sized because of the snow. I want a cocker spaniel but my hubby wants something bigger... Regardless I can't wait till we get it!

:dance:In case I forget to say tomorrow before i leave `Happy Holidays to everyone' Have a lovely time.

Yes, we have two dogs and five cats. Well, technically speaking, they're really mine because I look after them, and pay for all their stuff. And if we ever got divorced, I would get full custody and he'd get no visitation rights! :)

As regards dog breeds, I know pit bulls have a bad reputation but the larger of my two dogs is a pit bull mix, and I would highly recommend pit bulls to anybody. They're incredibly sweet and loyal, and they just don't deserve the bad rap they get. It's so unfair. In fact, they used to be called the "nanny dog" because they were so protective of their family, particularly the children:

Wow that's a lot of pets! Something to keep you busy while waiting for that EAD!

That was an interesting article. I love pretty much all dogs. I have already told my husband that if we end up getting a rescue dog he would have to go pick it out, as I think I would go to the shelter and pick the ugliest most unfortunate looking dogs - the ones that noone wants to adopt and we'd probably come home with about 10 dogs!

My hubby wants a puppy though that we can train from the get go. He wants what he describes as a `cool' looking dog... He would probably love a pitbull!

Yes, I know, it is a lot of pets, isn't it? Sometimes I wish I didn't have so many, but, well, what can you do? Sometimes they just show up at your door (like the pit bull, and two of my cats) and you've got to take them in. I don't go out of my way to find strays, but I believe that when they find me that we're fated to be together! My husband isn't very happy about this viewpoint, however! He says he'll kill me if I take in another cat!

Yes, you should totally get a pit bull. I don't know about California, but here the shelters are filled to the brim with pit bulls or pit bull mixes, and a large percentage of them (mainly young, perfectly healthy dogs with sweet natures) get put down because of their so-called "bad reputations". Nobody wants them! It's tragic, and so sad.

You should probably both go to the shelter so you can both find a dog that suits you. I mean, one time I looked after my friend's miniature pinscher for a few weeks, and I swear to God I was ready to kill that dog at the end of only Day 1. It was the most stupid dog I had ever come across in my life, and totally hyper, and always yapping. Ugh! I like more mellow, laid-back dogs.

As regards puppies v. adult dogs, well, of course, puppies are just adorable, but I found my pit bull when she was around 18 months, and she was no trouble to train whatsoever. Actually pit bulls are generally highly trainable.

Can't wait to hear about your dog when you get it!

I can't wait to get our dog but my hubby (the responsible one) is telling me we have to wait until the summer. He has like a zillion practical reasons for the delay - such as money etc... Of course if it were up to me we could get the dog tomorrow! Especially since it would give me something to do, while waiting for the EAD... Next summer is our compromise!

Finally recieved FP notice for my MIL. Notice Date on the receipt 12/15/2009 and FP Date is on 01/08/2010. No update online (FYI) still the same 11/20/09.

Also have a question on FP. The FP office is in Fortworth which is 50 miles away from my home even though there is one closer to us in Dallas which is 15 miles away. This was the case at our USC process too....

Do you guys suggest to do a walk-in at Dallas office and explain them that the Fortworth location is 50 miles away compared to the Dallas one....do you think they agree and will let us do walk-in. Any one out their who did walk-in at Dallas office. Appreciate your help.

Thank you for all the dog advice I appreciate it  Your right we should both go to the shelter together. I just have to be strong if we do and just pick one and not feel bad for all the dogs we can't take home!

My family totally have the same viewpoint as you too - their cat found them. I think I would be the same. Unfortunately no animals have found our house yet and i'm home enough not to have missed any!

About the whole dog thing...

We've got two of them - one is Chocolate Lab/Husky Mix, another - Black Lab/some kinda Spaniel Mix.

They are 7 and 8 months old right now, we got both of them from newspaper - "free dogs to good home".

They were very little when we got them. At first we wanted to get adult dogs from shelter, but decided on free puppies, because it's also considered - saving a dog's life, since most of them are from unwanted littres (sorry if spelled wrong). Also by getting a puppy this way, u know who is the mother most of the time and u can see the dog's behavior - and it's very important. Also, u can start consistent training when they are very young, which is easier. And another factor to consider is that if you take an adult dog, most of the time you don't know what happened to it before, and most of the time you are going to have to work with the adult dog much more. So u need to be prepared.

And our BIG mistake was - that we didn't search the interner about how to bring the dog to the house for the 1st time and what u need to do for the 1st week.

Also - about dogsitting --- that totally can be HELL. It depends on training, I dogsat my mother-in-law's multipoo (he is a spoiled little brat). Aslo by chance we got our neighbour's dog for a week, she is pittbull/choc lab mix - she didn't even know her name, was absolutely wild, but after a week of training she started listening well, got calmer, became a much better and happier dog that she was before. Glad to say that now she lives with a hunter's family (that should tell about her life:) ). About a week after we gave her away. I went to take my puppies out to potty, and when we came back inside my son was playing with a little puppy "rat" chihuahua. It was sooo adorable, I never knew I was gonna like a small dog so much, he stayed with us for a night, and now I want another dog - some toy breed. Though I couldn't stand them before :)

Sorry for all that BLAH BLAH BLAH

I just really love dogs, love living with them, working with them and training them.

And what the dog will be, it all depends on the owner!!!

...about pittbulls - looove them, a trained puttbull is one of the best companions out there!

Went out to check our mailbox today (Christmas morning) as we hadn't checked it for a couple days. Found a nice unexpected Christmas present in there waiting for us from yesterday (Christmas Eve) most likely. Our interview letters had arrived, with interview dates of 1/26/2010 (notification date of 12/18/09). Nothing has shown up on the USCIS site since the last touches on November 17th even though we did our biometrics on December 14th. Nor have there been any e-mail notifications since then. In spite of no notifications or touches, we received our interview letters. I'm not complaining, but rather just trying to figure out the rhyme or reason to USCIS procedures. I'm just a bit surprised that we received our interview letters before any touches or notifications, and even more surprised to have received them before any EAD or AP notifications or updates. I guess they really have no consistent rhyme or reason. LOL :wow:

WOW Awesome!!!! Yup, I've given up on checking the website or email for updates, I think it's totally out dated and far behind... some people have received their interview letters before EAD and AP last month so don't worry, it will arrive soon hopefully... Yay, I'm so excited, your good news is good news for me too as I'm sure the rest of the November filers will start seeing some action too soon!! Congrats and have a great weekend
