I read a poll recently (don't recall the source) that had Obama's approval ratings at 9% with Republicans & 90% with Democrats. Just goes to show how polarized (and partisan) most of our country is today. The approval numbers for the Independents were (not surprisingly) around 50%.

It's worth noting that rasmussen polls likely voters. Among registered voters or all adults, Obama does a little better, around 52% recently.

However, Rasmussen has predicted the last three presidential elections to less than 1% error for both major candidates. So I guess they know what they're talking about when they say likely voters.

Yup, the likely voter screen is killing his numbers. There is simply a lot more enthusiasm (or anger) on the right today than on the left.

It seems the left has forgotten that it's not enough to simply elect one of ours as President. That is just the beginning, not the end.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

It's practically a political civil war IMO. If Obama fails to be relected I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the Democrats will oppose the new Republican President out of spite (much like the Republicans are doing with Obama). There is so much animosity & finger pointing going on between the parties that getting anything done is next to impossible.

If democracy allows for civil-war type animosities to be played out politically and not violently, then it's served it's purpose.

Well the better scenario is when the parties compromise & come to an agreement, but you didn't see much of that during the Bush years and I doubt you will see much of it during the Obama years.

History and attitudes have not really changed. The only difference is faster access to information.
