Hello all,

I got a surprise today when I learned that our file was sent to Moscow rather than Kiev. I thought I had the one in Kiev all figured out and now it's Moscow instead. It seems that might slow us down a little, but the main thing I care about is an approval.

So a question about the scheduling - How do you get an interview scheduled? Do you schedule it yourself or do you just wait to find out when they have scheduled it for you? In other words, besides sending my fiancee all the paperwork, what do I need to do now? Try to call/email to schedule an interview or just keep waiting for our case on to appear on the online scheduling page?

Thanks, Ryan

They schedule it for you. A couple weeks after NOA2, email the Moscow consulate with the MOS case # in the header. I also provided Katya and I's full name and D.O.B. in the email. 3 days later they emailed me back with the interview date/time.

What is her address? Does she live in Ukraine or Russia? If she is Ukraine, the Kiev should be the consulate. Maybe NVC made a mistake. Call NVC and find out.

I think that if she is Ukrainian, the file will need to be sent to Kiev. Where does she live?

Oops! Just saw your other post. Sorry - but looks like Moscow is it. Cheers.

Yes, she currently lives in Russia, so it appears that all is well. It is strange because I double checked - there is in fact question #20 on the I-129F which asks what embassy do you want. I put Kiev, but they sent it to Moscow anyway. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. It just might slow things down a bit because the wait time seems to be longer in Moscow. But who cares as long I get an approval? :star:

What you answer on question 20 is mor eor less meaningless. As she is a Ukraine citizen can you request a change to Kiev if you like, read the NVC letter for an explanation. Although there is nothing terrible about the Moscow consulate.

what are first letters of your case # ? MOS or KEV?

just advice.

if she has her interview in Moscow but she is being an Ukrainian citizen, you should ask in Embassy in Moscow if she needs criminal record from Ukraine or not? Because in Kiev Embassy they ask any criminal records IF a person lived over 6 months out of Ukraine.

The case number begins with MOS, so it is definitely Moscow. And she already has a Ukrainian police certificate, so we are good to go.

Thanks, Ryan

The Embassy will schedule the interview for you. We found our date about three weeks after the documents left NVC by the online scheduling page. Then a week later Alla received her packet of document and information.

You can download all the documents from the Embassy website and get started now. I would advise that.
