Hi all,

After what seemed like eternity - waiting to have our DS-3032 and our IV bill generated, I see that in the U.S. Dept. of State website, shows the IV bill and it is showing the $400 to be paid...

Can I pay for it now or must I wait for an "OK" (correspondence) from the NVC before I take this stept??? HELP! I don't want to jump ahead on any steps and cause more delays for us.

Any advice anyone?

Thanking you in advance,

Liz and Mohamed

Ok everyone, I just paid our IV bill. When I finished making the payment I get a message to proceed to the NVC website for the next step in the process. Well, when I click on the link it gave me I see this:

After receiving notification from the NVC to begin Applicant Document Processing, all applicants MUST:

  1. Review the Children who are about to turn 21 years of age instructions IF the applicant or a child of the applicant is about to turn 21 years of age,
  2. Complete the Application For Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Forms DS-230 Part I and Part II .
  3. Obtain and submit the applicant’s civil documents.
  4. Obtain and submit photographs that meet the Department of State's immigration requirements.
  5. Review the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General-specific information.
  6. Mail the DS-230 and the applicant’s civil documents, and the applicant's photographs to the NVC.
  7. What happens next?
Warning: Do not take any action described above without authorization from the NVC. Taking action without the NVC's authorization could result in a delay in processing your case.

So what does all this mean? I cannot proceed to the next step in the process without getting the authorization first from the NVC? I thought once I made the payment and in the receipt instructions it told me to proceed to the next step that, that alone is the authorization from the NVC needed to proceed with the DS-230 packet??? Am I wrong??? HELP!

You need to wait till it says PAID then go ahead and get all the documents they want together, like you did with affidavit of support papers like that you also need the barcoded cover-sheet for the IV packet then print it out and send it to them.

Inshallah you will be fine.

Hi Liz,

That is just the standard email you will get after you submit payment for the IV bill. Give it a couple of days and it should go to Paid then you can print out the Cover letter for the DS-230 packet will all the documents that need to be submitted.

Technically you should have waited to receive the email stating the IV bill was available to be paid but it seems that the NVC website is not insync with the emails. Just keep watching your checking account for the money to be deducted from your account then the website will show Paid.

Good Luck!

Thank you ladies for answering my post. I truly appreciate everyone who participates in this forum.

Now, for another question. I asked my husband to get the police report and forward it to me along with the DS-230 because I have the other documents they are requesting. I told him to be fast with this so that as soon as the NVC clears our IV bill payment and I can print that coversheet I can mail the package out to them. He is a bit confused and assumed that this part of the process he needed to do on his end and submitted not to the NVC but to the Embassy/Consulate. Is he right anyone??? Or is it possible that once the NVC gets our DS-230 package and they close our case here, that all will then be sent to the Consulate in Cairo and then my husband will do something else there with this package??? Now, I am a bit confused. Anyone - HELP!

Thank you.

Liz

You are right Liz. I had my husband get his police certificate, military record, birth certificate with translations and send it to me. Along with the ds-230 he signed the first section and with our marriage certificate and his biographic page of his passport and 2 passport size photos, I mailed it all in to the NVC. Put a copy of all the papers in with it so that way they will give him back the originals at his interview. The NVC will dhl his originals to the embassy and send you two a letter(email) telling you where he needs to go for his medical exam and the date of the interview. Your husband can get extra certificates to take with him to the interview if he wants, in case they loose something, but the NVC suppose to send it to the embassy.

Ok, I am starting to repeat myself!!!

LOL!

Thank you for your fast response. So, all docs must be translated? I had the military record, birth certificate transalted here in the states. Our marriage certificate was translated out in Cairo. I will get the police record translated out here. Will this be accepted by the NVC or should all docs be translated in Egypt? The company I used in the states are certified to do translations...

Please help! My husband also just asked me if he should get extra copies of these docs or would copies be sufficient. I will be sending all originals to NVC right? So, the extra copy of the packets I've sent to the NVC (I-864EZ and I-230) that I will send to him, this will be enough for him to have with him on his interview day or not? I have a tough job ahead of me now. Should I copy all our chat logs and emails through out the year we have been communicating? This will be a lot of paper...Or should I just print out a monthly perhaps. Any suggestions? I have the telephone bills, pictures, my travel ticket stub, he has notes from my children, pictures of them...etc. Anything else? I cannot add him to any insurance or bank accounts, since obviously he is not here in the states and has no social security number yet. The affidavits from family and friends have been included to support our bonafide marriage....

Thank you for all your help.
