We need so serious education reform in this country. The disparity between states is ginormous.

My wife's friend (you know me, no friends) works for the federal education something and was saying the other day that a D grade in Maryland or Virginia, can be an A+ in other states like Louisiana etc. That is the problem right there. That is why we have so many un or undereducated idiots living in the US.

I actually think health insurance companies do care about patients to some degree. However, profits are really their main motivation.

It's as if they don't even understand the very premise of a private business.

Insurance companies definitely worry about bottom line more than clients. They are financial institutions and do not provide medical care...big surprise.

Government is not the other answer. Unless the government would lift the rules barring interstate commerce on health insurance. And we need to detach the insurance business from the employment business. When the employer can pay YOU what they pay the insurance companies for your coverage and allow YOU to choose health insurnace the way you choose auto insurance, homeowners insurance, then we will win. Until then it is just a matter of who will take our money and not give health care, insurance companies or government? Seems kind of DAFT to be giving a lot of money to people that are no where around when you need a doctor.
