But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I don't think you *have* to roll it over - you can leave the money with your former employers.

Rolling it over gives you more flexibility as far as your investments are concerned.

As for the company, I don't think it matters much. Fidelity?

I think the company matters based on how he wants to manage (or not) his money - Something like eTrade you have to want to be doing things yourself. A different company you have a broker/account manager who works with your account and they can make suggestions - or - for a fee, of course, they could just manage your money and you don't have to do anything but give it to them.

If his vested balance is less than a certain amount (i forget what the amt is), they are not required to hold on to it.

Yeah, these minimums are usually < $5,000; I think we can assume he has more than that.

I screwed up one of my 401ks that way. I was only in the 401k a few months before I quit and I neglected to take care of it myself. They were legally required only to mail me a check and treat it like I took money out before I hit 59.5 but instead they were nice enough to roll it over into an IRA for me.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
