I'm confused about the filing fee. According to the USCIS instructions the $545 fee ($465+$80) can be combined and submitted in one check made out to US Department of Homeland Security. However, I've come across several posts here on VJ where people are submitting two checks one for the filing fee and one for the biometrics. Since the USCIS instructions stated it can be one check I'm planning on sending one check but just wanted to confirm what others had done.

Sent 1 check as well, then indicated it on my cover letter that the amount was to cover for I-751 and Biometrics fee. One problem with sending 2 separate checks is they sometime misplace one or the other then send the application back to the applicant.

04/07/2011 - Check cashed

04/14/2011 - Biometrics appointment in the mail

04/21/2011 - Early Biometrics (was scheduled on May 4, 2011)

05/10/2011 - Case Status Notification - Interview scheduled
