President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he's already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years.

CBS' Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, "Today - Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24.

Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months."

This news comes on the heels of today's news that Obama played golf with a woman — chief domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes — for the first time since taking office.

Comparing leisure time habits of presidents is news now?

Sheesh

Only when a Republican is in office, or has played more golf than their Democrat counterpart.

I don't think Obama has tried late night "Speed Golf" yet.

Players run between shots and generally carry as few as one or as many as six clubs. A player's score is calculated by adding minutes plus strokes, so a round of 90 completed in 50 minutes and 30 seconds would compute to a score of 140:30.[1] The lowest score in competition is believed to have been shot by professional Christopher Smith at the Chicago Speedgolf Classic on October 16, 2005. Smith shot 65 in just 44:06 for a speed golf score of 109:06.[1]

Rules and etiquette are generally the same for speed golf and regular golf with minor exceptions. Speed golfers are allowed to putt with the flagstick left in the hole, but are expected to rake bunkers, fix ball marks and conform to the dress code.

Fitness and time savings are obvious benefits of Speed Golf. However, many players also report improved golf, typically shooting nearly the same scores despite running and using only a few clubs. Crowded courses are not conducive to play, so many Speed Golfers head out at the crack of dawn or during the cold days of winter when empty courses await and the temperature is suited for running.

a general is still waiting for more troops.

He'll wait till hell freezes over.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Is your inference here that Obama cares less about the welfare of the troops than any previous president? Presumably you guys say this because of some 'feeling' that this is so or do you have some evidence that you would like to present?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Evidence:

The troop request was made in August by his own handpicked general about a forum that Barry himself said during the campaign was essential to win. Now, he waffles, the request languishes while he plays golf, parties at the Wednesday WH concerts w/celebrity admirers, he's vacationed twice, he's gone to Copenhagen to front for his wealthy friends in a failed attempt to get the Olympics for Chicago, he has time for Leno, and to attend many DNC fundraisers. This is only a partial list.

But, hey, he's only been prez a few months.
