thanks for the reply. the reason i asked this question is when i was reading the sample forms on this website i noticed on the blanks , there was a "none" word instead of NA and on the forms from USCIS it says put N/A. kinda confused. i need help.

In most cases questions will be applicable or they wouldnt be asked. A 'None' answer or words to that effect would be preferable to a N/A answer where an adjudicator may send an RFE wanting to know why a question wasnt applicable. Just as they prefer the answer 'None' in preference to leaving a question blank. eg one could answer a question about any prior marriages with 'None' or they could answer 'No prior marriages'.

It depends on the questions. You can post your questions for people to say whether N/A or None will be suitable.

Examples:

Question # 7: Other names Used (Including Maiden Names): If you never used any other names you can write "NONE" instead of "N/A." "None" would be an appropriate answer for questions number 9 and 10, if the foreign alien wife never had any US social security number and alien registration number.

Question 14a: If you are a lawful permanentt resident alien, complete the following: If you are a US citizen petitioner, you should write "N/A" instead of "NONE."

Maybe because the questions are applicable and the answer is 'none'?

Before you decide that a question is not applicable, think about it from the USCIS point of view - in most cases you'll recognize that the information they're looking for is applicable. If in doubt, write a few words telling why the question does not apply to you rather than simply saying that it doesn't apply. Otherwise you risk an RFE asking why the question does not apply.
