Looking at the USCIS site, an infopass will not be processed until the service center processing time has elapsed with is 5-6 months, so all I can do is wait. I cannot think why it is taking so long. My wife and I have a clean background. There is no reason I can think of, apart from government bureaucracy.

Any suggesstions are appreciated and i'd be glad to hear anyone else's story that has had similar circumstances.

I am sick to death from all the stress.

I share your boat....Dont worry. Schedule an Infopass. If you are lucky and end up with a decent officer, you probably will be heard and might even be able to get a sound answer to your I have known from personal experience they don't have a clue as to whats going on in their offices.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for the pm saspk.

42 days after the AOS interview I am still none the wiser. 7 days ago I contacted USCIS to find out what was going on, 2 days ago I received a letter advising my that the case is being processed but is under " additional review" and thats why it is taking longer than expected.

I guess it is positive that the case is being processed and is not misplaced, however after doing some google research on additional review I've read some people have been in this status for well over 1 year.

I am currently outside the Atlanta's processing times and schedule an infopass. I was just about to do this when I read on the uscis website that I must wait 45 days from any service request, so I guess I have to wait 37 more days to wait before I request an infopass.

This weekend I will be preparing a letter to send to my senator and congressman.

I hope so.

Saspk that really stinks. Uscis should not have the power to decide the outcome of our lives.

It's immigration. Who else should have the power?

I'm not being mean. I'm just asking you to think about what you said. You are a foreign born person. I can't just waltz over to the UK and live there without asking permission either.

yeah, i'm feeling your pain. as you can see in my timeline, our process was going incredibly quickly, and we were patting ourselves on the back... until after the interview. our IO told us about 2mins after we sat down that she was recommending us for approval, she just had to wait on my namecheck. she said to expect my GC in one to two months. it has now been almost 3 so i'm starting to feel panicky.

a couple of days ago, after having no word since our interview, we received an NOA for the I-130 (the petition). it says that the petition has been approved but that the person who is being petitioned on behalf of (me) is not currently eligible to file for adjustment of status as this time. how the hell did i make it to the interview stage if that was the case????

we're gonna wait another month and then try infopass.

10-21-2009 received NOA for the I-130: "your petition is approved but... the applicant for whom you are petitioning is not eligible to file for an adjustment of status at this time". still no GC :(

11-18-2009 welcome letter received!

Is the petitioner in your case a USC or an LPR, maybe that's the reason behind the last NOA.
