She was just in the airport in Moscow, and she's misplaced or lost the sealed envelope...! She already got on the plane to JFK; but will she be turned back when she arrives? The only thing she has right now is the passport with the Visa in it. My wife and I are freaking out.

I am not sure what they will do at the POE but the envelope contains her entire immigration file (i-129F & evidence, etc... ) As far as I know, no copies are kept....

YMMV

Like brother pax said, that envelope contains her entire file, to be handed to the immigration officers at JFK. What will happen is anyone's guess. Hope she has no issues; but i have never heard of anyone loosing the envelope so I do not know. What time do you expect her to land? Is the fiance picking her up?

wow, hopefully the embassy/consulate made a copy before giving back the originals to her.... if not then, wow, how can she be admitted into this country without those papers that contains her identity....

Well, she has the passport with a Visa stamp in it, I believe. I can't believe that nobody, NOBODY, has ever lost, misplaced, or had the envelope stolen from them - ever.

I'm still hoping for the better, as I'm going with her fiance to pick her up in a few hours - she lands at 6.30p...

Was it lost in Moscow Airport? I know it may sound like a dumb question, but has anyone called to see if has been handed in? Perhaps if it has, it could be put on a flight to join her in the US.

I've not heard of anyone losing their pack, so would not know what could happen.

I hope everything works out for her.

perhaps you can ask an organizer to move it to a more appropriate forum? Like Moving hereand your life in America? That forum gets much more folks reading

I have thought about this all morning to try and figure out which forum would get this post more visibility... I am not sure "Moving here...." is better or not....

YMMV

have the fiance call the POE airport that she is coming into and ask them what to expect... there is probably a protocol or procedure on how to deal with it....

that, and also they might want to show up way in advance and do this in person.

so this is what he needs to do....

1. Call Airport to find out what he should expect

2. Go to the Airport in advance and take care of what is expected
